About the opportunity:  As a 2L Summer Associate at LP, you will have the opportunity to participate in a 10-week structured summer program designed to provide insight into the firm's culture, legal practices, and client work primarily within our Corporate, Real Estate, Trusts & Estates and Litigation practice groups.  Every Summer Associate is paired with an experienced Partner and Associate Mentor who are invested in your success and ready to help you navigate the realities of legal practice.  Summer Associates will also get to know our attorneys & staff across all of our practice groups by attending professional development sessions and participating in networking and social events. This program serves as a pipeline for full-time associate positions following graduation.

Experience that makes you a fit:

  • Currently enrolled as a first-year student (1L) at an accredited law school.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in private practice and a commitment to excellence.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Law review, moot court, or journal experience a plus.
  • Prior relevant work or internship experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive attitude.
  • A strong interest in one or more of the following practice areas: Corporate, Real Estate, Trusts & Estates and Litigation.

Dive into hand-on projects and grow your skills:

  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda on a wide range of legal topics.
  • Assist in the preparation of legal documents such as contracts, briefs, motions, and pleadings.
  • Attend and participate in client meetings, depositions, hearings, and deal closings (as applicable).
  • Collaborate with attorneys across various practice groups.
  • Receive regular feedback and participate in evaluations to support professional development.
  • Engage in training sessions and firm-sponsored events to better understand firm operations and culture.
  • Get involved in pro bono work and community engagement initiatives.
