Building Engineer

The Building Engineer assists with the maintenance and operation of all mechanical equipment, appliances, building-related systems, and routine general maintenance. This position works closely with other Engineers under the supervision of the Lead Engineer/Chief Engineer and may lead entry level engineers on various projects.
Desired Competency, Experience and Skills:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3-4 years of progressively responsible related experience in a commercial property, tenant management setting.
- Building and equipment maintenance/repair techniques, as well as basic property management tools and skills.
- Organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines, accomplish work in order of priority; professionally maintain composure & effectiveness under pressure and changing conditions.
- Self-motivation, leadership, teamwork and collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled maintenance and building repairs, including equipment testing, and preventative maintenance.
- Perform unscheduled maintenance calls, including plumbing emergencies, minor equipment malfunctions, HVAC calls, electrical and lighting repairs, and minor structural repairs (ceiling, floor, door, etc).
- Responsible for the operation and maintenance of fire/life safety systems for the property.
- Perform regularly scheduled Preventative Maintenance tasks to ensure all building equipment is functioning properly.
- Respond to emergency calls after hours as directed.
- Perform routine inspections of building(s) and systems.
- Promote and maintain safe work practices focusing on overall safety
- Work with tenants to understand their needs in order to build and maintain positive, productive and professional relations.
- Work with Property Manager/General Manager on projects as directed.
- Responsibilities may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime, and evening/weekend hours in order to meet deadlines.
This position is 100% in-office. The role requires working in office during standard business hours. Remote work or telecommuting is not an option for this position.
