Business Development Coordinator

The Business Development Coordinator (BDC) is responsible for the coordination of activities in the business development process, ensuring timelines and client requirements are met, and producing innovative documents that are delivered on time and to the highest possible standard. Will provide support to the Business Development Director (BDD) and Business Development Managers (BDMs) and to assist developing new business opportunities. They work closely with the BD team to implement strategies and initiatives that drive business growth.
The role will also include: various internal and external marketing activities, event organization and marketing presence at industry exhibitions, events and conferences, communications, training, maintaining client relationships, and supporting leadership with sales activity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the preparation of presentations and pitches for prospective clients.
- Project manage the reactive RFP process; deal promptly and professionally with all pre-qualifications, distribute documents between the team and keep BDD and BDMs fully updated on progress.
- Identify, review, evaluate and understand the requirements of business opportunities and suggest successful strategies for response
- Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and potential clients.
- Support the BD team with lead generation through various channels, including cold calling, email marketing, and networking events.
- Write and distribute agendas, proposals, cost estimates, and briefing documents for internal and external meetings.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients via email, phone, and in-person meetings.
- Coordinate and arrange client events, meetings, appointments, and conferences.
- Track submitted proposals and provide feedback and next steps to management.
- Maintain client database and contact lists.
- Provide effective administrative support to the business development team and operational leadership as needed.
- Complete project management of pursuit opportunities from initiation to submission of innovative responses.
- Manage the contributions of others supporting the pursuit to ensure timely delivery of best quality responses.
- Develop and deliver exceptional response and presentation documents and presentations in line with Company standards, coordinating input from relevant functions (Ops, Procurement, HR, QHSE etc.) as well as local managers and the BDD.
- Manage communication between the client and throughout the bid process.
- Coordinate client site visits, meetings and preparation of presentations where necessary.
- Represent Lincoln at industry events and networking events.
- Work closely with the central marketing team to provide draft press releases, ideas for article placement, new brochure content and other support for marketing collateral as necessary
- Keep Corporate Division BD team and wider division up-to-date with industry developments, maintaining awareness of competitor activity and market trends.
- Liaise with other parts of the Lincoln business to establish best practices.
- Track and report on progress against annual and monthly sales targets across the business. Manage all sales reporting and records requirements.
- Build relationships with operational managers and support functions. Maintain excellent relationships and after-sales support to build mutual confidence in line with the agreed business strategy.
- Develop standard content library to ensure a consistent and efficient approach to pursuit opportunities.
- Act as main contact to Corporate BD team in absence of BDD and provide any support (administrative or other to team where necessary).
- Facilitate onboarding and training of new BD team members.
- Support BDD and BDMs with creative and strategic input.
Desired Competency, Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
- 2+ years of professional experience in business development or a related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
- Extremely organized, ability to prioritize and manage workload effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate with and present to high level clients regularly.
