Associate Asset Manager/Investment Associate

We are seeking a motivated and analytically driven Associate Asset Manager / Investment Associate to join our Investment Management team in Chicago, IL. This in-office position supports fund managers and asset managers in evaluating and managing a national portfolio of primarily office and industrial assets, with potential exposure to medical office, retail, and multifamily investments. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in real estate investment underwriting, financial modeling, and asset strategy execution. This is a hands-on role offering broad exposure to acquisitions, repositioning, asset management, financing, and dispositions within an SEC-registered investment advisory platform managing over $5.0 billion in assets.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with brokers and regional staff across the U.S. to support the review, underwriting, and due diligence of new real estate acquisitions.
- Assist with the execution of asset-level strategies including repositioning plans, refinancing, and disposition efforts.
- Conduct lease analysis and evaluate financing structures to understand their impact on asset and portfolio value.
- Prepare and review internal valuations and third-party appraisals to support investment decisions.
- Create market research reports, acquisition memos, and investment recommendations for internal and client use.
- Track market data and property performance to support hold/sell analyses and ongoing portfolio assessments.
- Assist in drafting and delivering client reporting packages and supporting financial schedules.
- Support the creation of strategic business plans for assets, including cash flow projections, budget reviews, and capital planning.
- Monitor property-level performance and variances against operating and capital budgets.
Desired Competency, Experience, and Skills:
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in real estate investment analysis, acquisitions, or asset management.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in financial modeling and discounted cash flow analysis.
- Basic understanding of financial statements, real estate leases, and loan documentation.
- Skilled in Excel, Word, and ARGUS Enterprise; familiarity with market research tools is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present analysis and support recommendations clearly.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines across various stakeholders.
- Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate in a flat, fast-paced investment environment.
- High integrity, strong work ethic, and a genuine interest in commercial real estate investing.
