We are seeking a Staff Advanced Product Quality Engineer to lead the development of Tier 1 customer-facing Quality Management Systems and oversee Powertrain Advanced Product Quality. This is a high-visibility role that requires technical expertise, passion, and exceptional interpersonal skills to collaborate and influence outcomes within a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will develop and implement quality plans, manage external audits, lead corrective actions, and ensure compliance with Tier 1 customer requirements and industry standards. This role demands deep professional experience in quality and reliability best practices, product validation, and innovation. The successful candidate will demonstrate a can-do attitude, a strong track record in developing quality program management systems, and the ability to work through complexity, exhibiting determination and excellence in an automotive or parallel industry environment.

You Will:

  • Develop and implement quality plans to enable Lucid as a Tier 1 Powertrain Supplier aligned with Tier 1 customer requirements and industry standards
  • Ensure all quality processes are established from the Tier 1 customer project's inception
  • Serve as the primary contact between Lucid and its Tier 1 customers on all quality-related matters
  • Communicate Tier 1 customer quality expectations and requirements to internal teams
  • Oversee and manage Tier 1 customer external audits
  • Lead corrective actions and process improvements based on feedback and Tier 1 customer audit findings
  • Evaluate performance metrics to diagnose and prioritize issues reported by our Tier 1 customers
  • Drive the root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for quality issues reported by our Tier 1 customers
  • Design programs for product quality and reliability requirements for upstream validation
  • Oversee the application of all lessons learned from previous powertrain quality issues
  • Plan and drive product quality requirements at various development stages
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to achieve the highest product quality excellence
  • Contribute ideas and best practices to ensure successful quality gates
  • Facilitate quality resolutions, innovations, and continual improvements
  • Document processes and ensure compliance with ISO9001, AIAG/IATF16949, and ISO26262 industry standards
  • Develop processes and procedures within the Corporate QMS
  • Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities to ensure project success
  • Lead Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) from a Quality perspective and ensure its integration into the design and manufacturing processes
  • Manage the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to ensure product quality and consistency
  • Utilize statistical tools and techniques for process capability analysis and continuous improvement

You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required (Mechanical preferred)
  • Technical Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
  • Track record of developing Supplier Quality Management Systems from scratch
  • Quality and technical experience in Tier 1 Powertrain Suppliers/OEMs is strongly preferred 
  • Expertise in GD&T (preferred)
  • Practical experience in Problem Solving, DFMEA, DFM, APQP, Lean Six Sigma, and ASQ CQA Certifications
  • In-depth knowledge of advanced product quality (APQP) and the full life cycle of product quality gates during product development (PDP)
  • Prior experience in supplier quality or corporate quality (preferred)
  • Self-motivated team player with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing cross-functional teams with technical expertise
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis
  • Proficiency in quality management software and tools
  • A Minimum of 8+ years' experience in Powertrain components is preferred
  • A Minimum of 8+ years of leading/facilitating DFMEA/PFMEA/CP experience is strongly preferred
  • A Minimum 8+ years' experience in identifying design risks and problem solving them with cross functional teams during prototype build phases is strongly preferred
  • A Minimum of 8+ years' experience in MSA/SPC/Safe Launch is strongly preferred
  • A Minimum of 8+ years of experience in DVP&R’s for Powertrain components is strongly preferred
  • A Minimum of 8+ years' experience in analyzing Powertrain issues with developing resolutions and mitigations plans to protect product quality is strongly preferred
  • A Minimum of 8+ years of experience facilitating/leading program DFM/DFA is preferred
  • A Minimum of 8+years for experience in managing program timing & planning to identify quality risks proactively with mitigation plans to protect overall product quality
  • Flexibility in work schedule is required (to include evenings and weekends, as needed)

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
 
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.  (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)

Base Pay Range (Annual)

$156,600 - $229,680 USD
