Intern, Seating Systems, Summer 2025
As the Intern, Seating Systems, you must possess a strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, and have an eye for detail. Role/Responsibilities:
- Hand calculations for determining the stress/strain on a particular section of the seat structure for a given load case
- Help with prototype seat builds for various gate deliverables
- Lead/assist in the benchmarking activity
- Work with cross functional teams within Lucid to drive the deliverables keeping the timing and cost for the project in mind
- Help with the seat mockups within the prototype/current production vehicles
- Help run subjective seat performance validations, to help improve seat functions such as massage, heat, vent, comfort
Preferred Qualifications:
- Design experience creating a product in CAD, CATIA V5/V6 is a major plus
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals
- Basic understanding of electrical and electronics systems
- Experience in kinematics
- Experience in writing technical reports
- Keen eye for detail
- Experience working with MATLAB for simulations
- Solidworks experience is a plus
- Ability to work cross functionally with multiple teams
- Strong communication skills
- A self starter mentality
Nice to Have:
- Automotive experience
- Basic knowledge in Electrical/SW fundamentals
- Experience building things in past internship or projects
- Creating CAD/ section cuts using the 3DX platform
Education:
- Field(s) of study: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program at an accredited university
- Proof of enrollment in current or into next program (MS)
Program Information:
- Timing: May- August, or June-September pending class schedules.
- Duration of Internship: Our internship program is 12 weeks; the end date is flexible based on individual needs.
- Work Location & Environment: This position will be in Newark, CA, and is fully in-person. You must be prepared to start onsite for your first day of employment. The working environment will be a mix of lab & office work.
- Compensation: Student compensation is based on location and current degree level, non-negotiable ranging from $35 to $48 (subject to changes).
- Relocation: May be provided on a case to case basis.
- Housing/Transportation: You must provide your own living arrangements and transportation in the local area.
- Background Check: All offers of employment are contingent on clearing a background check.
- Drug Screening: All offers of employment are contingent on passing a drug screen.
- Medical benefits: Dental, vision, and medical on day 1 for all interns working full-time.
- Visa Sponsorship: Lucid may but is not obligated to sponsor foreign national employees requiring company sponsorship for U.S employment authorization.
Base Pay Range (hourly)
$35 - $48 USD
