Intern, Power Electronics Test and Validation, Summer 2025
This internship position will be with the Power Electronics Test & Validation group. This position requires a talented engineer with passion and experience to ideate and create an accelerated durability test. Role/Responsibilities:
- Develop, validate, and run test automation and post-data analysis scripts for accelerated lifetime tests for Power Electronics
- Research, develop, and implement virtual validation and damaging models
- Develop and improve on statistical reliability models
- Self-starter mentality, with the tested ability to create tests from concept to implementation
- Define tests and perform data analysis to validate durability over vehicles lifetime
- Analyze and review data to ensure that hardware is operating as expected
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals and have coding experience
- Demonstrate ability to apply first-principles engineering
- Strong understanding of electronics, and electric machines
- Experience with durability tests and understanding of damaging mechanisms of electronics, and electric machines
- Skilled in python scripting
- Self-starter, with ability to drive project from end to end with little guidance. This role will be focused on R&D
- Matlab/Simulink experience
- Experience using LabVIEW/ANSYS
- FSAE experience is a plus
Nice to Have:
- AVL experience
- High voltage experience
- Electrical test experience
- Soldering
Education:
- Field(s) of study: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering with electrical experience, Mechatronics or related fields
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program at an accredited university
- Proof of enrollment in current or into next program (MS)
Program Information:
- Timing: May- August, or June-September pending class schedules.
- Duration of Internship: Our internship program is 12 weeks; the end date is flexible based on individual needs.
- Work Location & Environment: This position will be in Newark, CA, and is fully in-person. You must be prepared to start onsite for your first day of employment. The working environment will be a mix of lab & office work.
- Compensation: Student compensation is based on location and current degree level, non-negotiable ranging from $35 to $48 (subject to changes).
- Relocation: May be provided on a case to case basis.
- Housing/Transportation: You must provide your own living arrangements and transportation in the local area.
- Background Check: All offers of employment are contingent on clearing a background check.
- Drug Screening: All offers of employment are contingent on passing a drug screen.

Base Pay Range (hourly)
$35 - $48 USD
