Technical Specialist – Occupant Package & Ergonomics
We are currently seeking a Technical Specialist, Occupant Package & Ergonomics, in our Human Factors team. This position requires an experienced professional who will be responsible for acting as the voice of the customer, and ensure that Lucid delivers class leading vehicles in terms of occupant package and overall vehicle ergonomics. The Role:
- Take a lead role in laying out and refining the occupant package for multiple vehicle programs, and then working closely with the Studio and Engineering Teams to defend those attributes to then converge on class-leading overall vehicle ergonomics and comfort.
- Generate, catalogue, implement and track human factors and occupant package requirements within the vehicle design.
- Measure, illustrate and communicate the overall occupant package status based on common industry standards (e.g., SAE J1100)
- Design, develop and utilize physical mockups and virtual tools to validate the occupant package, ergonomic, and comfort requirements through user studies.
- Conduct visual ergonomic evaluations for reflection and glare, both virtually [using ANSYS SPEOS] and physically.
- Conduct extensive benchmark studies to support the activities to create industry leading interior comfort & spaciousness (include A2MAC1 & subjective forums data)
- Work interactively within a cross functional marketing, design, and vehicle engineering teams, placing priority upon the greater benefit of the vehicle above any one individual system.
- Employ and develop efficient tools and an innovative approach to support the development.
Qualifications:
- 8 + years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent work experience in the field of automotive human factors.
- Proven experience with vehicle comfort & ergonomics concepts and have hands on experience with both subjective as well as quantitative methods of ergonomic evaluations.
- Understanding of SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) standards, FMVSS/ECE regulation to create occupant layout concepts including spaciousness and visibility requirements.
- Experience with RAMSIS, CAVA & CAD tool skills to create, integrate and maintain 2D/3D vehicle package layouts and ergonomic evaluations.
- Experience with Ansys SPEOS performing reflection and glare evaluations.
Advantageous:
- Well versed with current & future industry trends and stay abreast of developments in the automotive human factors field.
- Experience in leading the user clinics/customer surveys to capture, as well as validate, user ergonomic requirements.
- Good understanding of automotive seat comfort and know-how of quantitative/qualitative methods to evaluate seat comfort.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in science in relevant discipline required.
- Master’s degree in science in relevant discipline preferred.
Base Pay Range (Annual)
$140,000 - $205,260 USD
