As a Sr. Simulation Engineer, you will play a lead role in advancing Lucid’s goal of being a highly automated and digitalized manufacturing company. You will work closely with external equipment suppliers and internal teams including Engineering, Quality, Production, and Maintenance to design, program, test, and commission complex automation systems.

You will:

  • Be a subject matter expert in simulation of manufacturing lines and automation cells. Define the scope and deliverables of simulation during equipment development and continuous improvement projects
  • Create standards and guidelines for equipment suppliers to develop simulation models and perform various analyses. Standards to include choice of software, methods, test cases, and required outputs for the simulation exercise
  • Collaborate with equipment suppliers during all phases of equipment development to leverage the benefits of simulation for evaluating line bottlenecks and buffer sizes, estimating throughput, evaluating station cycle times, detecting interferences, and optimizing process sequences
  • Perform in-house testing of supplier models and provide feedback to their automation teams on deficiencies or improvement opportunities
  • Manage a repository of digital twins for automation systems deployed in the factory
  • Support the manufacturing engineering team in evaluating changes to automation systems, including running multiple what-if scenarios on the digital twin

You bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required
  • 5+ years of Simulation experience in the automotive industry including discrete event line level and cell level simulation
  • Proficiency in simulation software – Siemens Process Simulate and Plant Simulate (Tecnomatix), Flexsim, and/or Rockwell Automation Emulate3D
  • Basic to intermediate capability in 2D and 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, CATIA
  • Experience in designing, programming, commissioning of automation systems for discrete manufacturing, preferably in the automotive industry
  • Knowledge of industrial robots and common programming techniques
  • Familiarity with commonly used process and material handling components such as sensors, clamps, crowders, lift-and-locates, conveyors, AGVs, gantries, turntables
  • Familiarity with commonly used safety system components such as safety relays, light curtains, area scanners, guard monitoring and guard locking devices
  • Knowledge of equipment safety standards such as ISO12100, ISO 13849 and ISO 10218
  • Strong organization skills – tracking schedule and open items, creating meeting agendas and minutes
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate clearly and professionally at various levels both inside and outside the company
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time
