Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional with a strong background in automotive dimensional engineering and a high aptitude in mathematics. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of technical excellence, program execution, and the ability to lead and manage teams effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the dimensional strategy of the vehicle
- Lead and manage a team of dimensional engineers and metrologists, with a minimum of 5 direct reports.
- Oversee the full program cycle from concept to production launch in the automotive field.
- Apply mathematical theories and techniques to solve practical problems in business, engineering, and manufacturing
- Ensure the accuracy and validity of data through rigorous analysis and testing.
- Build up to vehicle level dimensional simulation models in a rigid and compliant environment
- Correlate the simulation models with real world dimensional performance
- Work closely with all hardware engineering departments, suppliers, supply chain, supplier quality, manufacturing, quality, and metrology
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of direct experience in automotive dimensional engineering with specific responsibilities in areas such as body structures, closures, chassis, and interior/exterior components.
- 5+ years of experience leading teams of dimensional engineers and metrologists.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in automotive product data management (PDM), Catia, FT&A, GD&T, and CAD.
- Experience with software such as 3DCS, CATIA, Polyworks Dataloop, Minitab and QDM.
- Understanding of
- Experience with metrology technologies, including CMM, scanning, and photogrammetry.
- Profieceny using statistical methodologies such as Root-Sum-Squares and Root-Mean-Suares or Monte Carlo methods.
- High proficiency using statistical process control tools.
- Use statistical analysis to estimate the probability distribution of deviations in each tolerance dimension for manufacturing.
- Profound knowledge of dimensional engineering and a demonstrable track record of technical excellence and program execution.
- Experience using mathematic models to define datum strategies
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to achieve success in a fast-paced startup environment.
- A practical hands-on approach to complement engineering fundamentals and management skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to develop and apply mathematical and statistical models to solve complex problems.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Use statistical software to analyze data, create visualizations, and communicate findings to technical and nontechnical audiences.
Education requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, mathematics, physics or related discipline
