
Sr. PLC Controls Engineer, Powertrain Data
We are seeking a highly skilled Control Automation Engineer to join our Powertrain Data & Automation team. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining machine-level control systems and ensuring seamless integration with our manufacturing execution and data systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial automation, PLC programming, and system integration within a high performance manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Implement and maintain machine-level communication with the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to relay product quality data, machine status, and process variables.
• Collaborate with data engineers to optimize automated workflows, ensuring robust and consistent data acquisition from machinery to centralized databases or cloud storage.
• Maintain, troubleshoot and optimize PLC logic and control systems for equipment such as conveyors, robotics, and third-party devices, as well as interfaces with MES, LabVIEW applications, machine vision systems.
• Work closely with process and controls engineers to ensure automation solutions are aligned with production requirements and quality standards.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Control Systems, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience as a hands-on Controls engineer or automation engineer, proficiency with process integration.
• Proficiency in PLC programming, particularly: o Ladder Logic (Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, RSLogix 5000) o HMI development tools (e.g., FactoryTalk, LabVIEW, Ignition)
• In-depth knowledge of industrial communication protocols, including serial communication (e.g., RS-232, RS-485) and PLC-to-database connectivity.
• Experience with state machine programming for complex automation systems involving multi-station coordination, pick-and-place operations, data acquisition, and PID control.
