
Mechanical Engineer I, Power Electronics
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer I, Power Electronics as part of product engineering organization in the plant. The candidate will work with multi-disciplinary teams to drive product/specification related investigations to resolution for the products in production. You will:
- Drive product change management to address product issues in regular production
- Solve complex component/system level problems using standard problem-solving techniques
- Data driven proactive problem solving & issue avoidance due to process deviations or critical part quality issues
- Provide design for manufacturability & serviceability feedback in future product development processes
- Responsible for design intent assembly requirements of Inverter, on the assembly line
- Advise on build process development and possible improvements to ensure design intent is not compromised
Requirements
- BS in Mechanical or Automotive disciplines with 2+ years of automotive experience in design and release of vehicle attributes
- MS in Mechanical or Automotive disciplines with 1+ years of automotive experience in design and release of vehicle attributes
- Knowledge product problem solving using industry standard techniques
- Proficient in data analysis using statistics Minitab or JMP, Python, MATLAB
- Functional knowledge of Power Electronics and its interfaces
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, sheet metal stamping, diecasting etc
- Knowledge of automotive-grade adhesives, plastics, cooling systems, and metal components
- Awareness of DFMEA, PFMEA, DVP&R, DFM, & RCA with cross-functional teams
- Exceptional communication and documentation skills are required using Atlassian products.
- Requires proficiency in Catia or 3DX & GD&T
- Knowledge of 2D & 3D stack-up analysis is preferred
- Travel is required between the factory in Casa Grande, AZ and Engineering HQ in Newark, CA on as needed basis
Preferred
- Hands-on experience from collegiate competitions like FSAE, BAJA, or similar
- Knowledge of 6S statistical tools like cpk/ppk/DoE/Gauge R&R
