
Senior Facilities & Construction Design Planner
Lucid Motors is seeking a Facilities & Construction professional to support our dynamic location portfolio across multiple project types and strategic initiatives. The Senior Facilities & Construction Design Planner is responsible for leading the planning, design, and execution of facility and construction projects to support organizational objectives. This role involves developing space and utilization solutions, ensuring compliance with building codes and industry standards, and collaborating with architects, engineers, contractors, equipment vendors and internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate has a strong background in facility planning, construction design, and project management to drive efficient and functional facility solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilities & Space Planning:
- Develop and implement strategic facilities and space plans to support business needs and operational efficiency.
- Conduct space utilization analysis and recommend layout improvements to maximize functionality across multiple business units.
- Oversee the development of design concepts, floor plans, and construction drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.
- Ensure designs align with business priorities, budget goals, and construction standards.
Construction Design & Project Management:
- Manage facility design and construction projects from initial concept thru hand-off to Construction PMs, and act as subject matter liaison throughout the project duration to enable quick pivots and changes to scope when necessary.
- Develop project scopes, budgets, and timelines in coordination with key stakeholders. Provide alternatives to ensure all possible project outcomes are considered.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, equipment manufacturers and contractors to ensure design intent and quality execution.
- Monitor project progress, address issues, and ensure adherence to safety, regulatory, and budgetary requirements.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with leadership, function heads, and end-users to assess facility needs and design solutions, balancing multiple priorities and space constraints.
- Present space and design recommendations, project updates, and feasibility studies to executives and stakeholders. Engage with internal teams during initial project ideation phase to align early on feasibility, directional costs, and schedule projections.
- Act as a liaison between internal teams and external consultants, ensuring smooth coordination of design and construction efforts.
Compliance & Sustainability:
- Ensure design and facility projects comply with building codes, ADA regulations, permitting and workplace safety standards.
- Integrate sustainability best practices, energy-efficient solutions, and environmental considerations into facility planning and design wherever possible.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovative facility solutions.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 7-10 years of experience in facilities planning, construction design, and project management.
- Proficiency in design and space planning software (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, or CAFM tools).
- Proven expertise in contract negotiations and managing relationships with general contractors, vendors, and consultants to ensure smooth project execution and alignment with objectives.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Knowledge of building codes, ADA requirements, and workplace design best practices.
- Ability to lead multiple planning initiatives in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
- Experience in corporate, manufacturing & R/D facility planning & construction. Electric vehicle facility experience is strongly preferred including working knowledge of the EV automotive facility development process and typical development issues.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Professional certifications such as Registered Architect (RA), Certified Facility Manager (CFM), or LEED Accreditation.
