You the Test equipment engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing test equipment for component and systems testing. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including design, R&D, and testing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in equipment engineering, with expertise in mechanical design, electrical design, knowledge of sensor selection, and DAQ selection/programing.
Job Description:
· Design and develop of equipment from initial concept to creation, this may include but not limited to manufacturing and R&D build & test equipment.
· Understand mechanical design, electrical architecture, sensor integration, and data collection.
· Selection of DAQ and control system hardware for various test equipment.
· Support the integration of equipment within Powertrain labs.
· Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to creatively create & integrate test equipment.
· Ingrate internal and the industry standard for safety for all test equipment developed.
· Work with internal and external suppliers to manufacture and assemble test equipment.
· Coordinate virtual engineering and physical validation testing activities of designs.
· Provide documentation for external teams to gain confidence in test equipment designs, this may include but not limited to, calculations, build sequences, work instructions, instruction and maintenance manuals.
· Support multiple complex projects in a demanding environment to help meet program and development milestones.
· Navigate through assumptions, ambiguity, and preliminary requirements during the concept phase by proactively asking necessary technical questions.
· Drive and own complete projects, this may include the responsibilities of a dual project manager role and designer of the project.
· Design & implement circuits/electrical systems that integrate with data collection software.
· Relate DVP&R items to specific test equipment.
· Create make vs. buy assessment on test equipment to be pitched to management and demonstrate how the test equipment selected archives the company’s goal.
Requirements:
· BS in Mechanical or Automotive disciplines with 3+ years of engineering
· Experience in product problem solving using industry standard techniques
· Excellent proficiency in Catia or 3DX, Stack up analysis (2D & 3D), & GD&T
· Proficient in PLC programing, data analysis, and LV system.
· Proficient in circuit diagrams and HV safety considerations.
· Experience in using DFMEA, DVP&R, DFM, & RCA with cross-functional teams
· Exceptional communication and documentation skills are required using Atlassian products.
· Travel is required between the factory in Casa Grande, AZ and Engineering HQ in Newark, CA on as needed basis
· Strong knowledge of hardware components, including sensors, actuators, control circuits, test connectors, and mechanical components.
Base Pay Range (Annual)
$105,400 - $144,980 USD
