Staff ADAS Calibration Engineer
We are seeking a Staff Calibration Engineer to join our ADAS Data Team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, executing, and refining both intrinsic and extrinsic calibration pipelines for multi-sensor ADAS platforms. You will work with high-resolution cameras, LiDARs, radars, and other vehicle-mounted sensors to ensure accurate sensor fusion and data alignment for perception and mapping tasks.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you’ll collaborate with data collection, perception, and mapping teams to deliver high-quality calibrated datasets at scale.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement intrinsic calibration workflows for mono and stereo cameras (pinhole and fisheye models), including distortion modeling.
- Develop extrinsic calibration pipelines between camera, LiDAR, radar, IMU, and GNSS sensors.
- Perform both offline and online calibration using checkerboards, ArUco tags, PnP, ICP, and bundle adjustment techniques.
- Lead the development of automated and scalable calibration validation tools using reprojection errors, overlay accuracy, and alignment metrics.
- Collaborate with data collection and annotation teams to provide calibration configurations and verify in-field data quality.
- Own the calibration database, including versioning, health monitoring, and configuration tracking.
- Develop simulation/test frameworks to evaluate the impact of calibration errors on perception and localization modules.
- Train and mentor junior engineers in calibration theory and practice.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Vision, Robotics, or related field.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience with camera intrinsic calibration (e.g., OpenCV, Kalibr). 6+ years of experience required with a master’s degree.
- 5+ years of experience with extrinsic calibration between heterogeneous sensors (e.g., LiDAR-camera, radar-camera).
- Proficiency in Python and C++, with experience using OpenCV, ROS, NumPy, SciPy.
- Strong understanding of coordinate transformations, projection models, and rigid body kinematics.
- Experience working with large-scale ADAS/AV data collection platforms.
- Familiarity with calibration challenges on rolling shutter cameras, spinning LiDARs, and mobile platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with deep learning-assisted auto-calibration methods.
- Exposure to sensor timestamp synchronization and time delay estimation.
- Background in sensor fusion, SLAM, or visual odometry.
- Experience with cloud-based tooling for calibration storage and retrieval.
- Knowledge of calibration for fleet-scale deployments.
Base Pay Range (Annual)
