
Staff Global Supply Manager, Battery Raw Materials & Recycling
The Staff Global Supply Manager supporting Battery Raw materials manages all company business with a group of suppliers and is the key internal interface with Engineering, Finance, National/International Policy, ESG/Sustainability and Manufacturing to deliver cost effective and environmentally conscious materials into our battery supply chain. In this role, the Staff level Global Supply Manager will develop, implement, and execute the supply strategy for Lucid’s battery material commodity and will lead the establishment of Lucid’s global supply chain strategy, support cross-functional teams during the development and industrialization phases, and drive sound business decisions throughout the product life cycle.
The Staff Global Supply Manager keeps monitoring latest market situation of Lithium-Ion secondary battery cells, raw materials of battery cells, new chemistry and new technology of high-performance battery cells, supply/demand situations, latest governmental regulations to assess fair market price of battery cells.
The Staff Global Supply Manager will work with program management to update long term battery cell demand forecast, and short to midterm official battery cell release schedule to support Lucid’s product manufacturing plan. They will also manage the strategic and tactical commercial topics related to Lucid’s Battery Recycling programs globally and lead the growth and expansion of the scope and processes within the organization.
You Will:
- Collaborate with Engineering and Supplier Quality to identify potential suppliers with the right qualifications to meet Lucid’s expectations and timeline
- Create RFQs, review, analyze and clarify quotations from suppliers and develop sound sourcing and business recommendations balancing cost, quality, lead-time and technical considerations
- Develop, maintain, and leverage overall supplier relationships and act as point of contact for all interactions with supply partners
- Negotiate Direct/Directed Contracts that are optimized to maximum commercial advantage for Lucid
- Create multifaceted commodity strategies to present to executive leadership
- Collaborate with finance and treasury to mitigate the effect of price fluctuation in contracts
- Be point of contact for policy and environmental compliance group to bring transparency and drive sustainability to Lucid’s battery supply chain
- Travel 15-25% to visit suppliers to perform business and program reviews.
You Bring:
- First principals problem-solving approach with a laser-focused mentality on driving results
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, Public Policy, or similar
- Minimum of 8 years of experience; or Masters’ degree; or equivalent work experience
- Entrepreneurial mindset; Resilient, Resourceful, and Solutions-Oriented
- Experience sourcing battery raw materials such as Cathode Active Materials, Anode Active Materials, Lithium, Nickel, Cobalt, Electrolyte, Separator, etc.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a team-first mindset that creates a vibrant, cohesive environment to help resolve problems, cascade best practices and deliver optimal results
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Passion for results, strategy, and sense of ownership that leads to effective hand-on execution.
- Creative, calculated risk taker with the ability to manage difficult suppliers, mitigate unforeseen problems and resolve disputes while preserving relationships with suppliers and internal staff
- Strong written and verbal skills as well as organizational and program management capabilities
- Proficient in Excel, Project, Power Point, Word, ERP systems (SAP or equivalent)
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or Masters’ Degree in Technical Discipline
- Experience in commercially and operationally managing battery recycling
- Complex contract structuring expertise; directed (Tier 2/3), material/currency adjustments, etc.
- Experience in mining or materials science
- Strong knowledge of battery cell/pack technology, chemistry, active materials
- Familiarity with domestic and international legislation and public policy including but not limited to the Inflation Reduction Act and the European Battery Passport
- Experience with currency/commodity hedging
- Additional experience in Corporate Development, Investment Banking and/or Consulting
- Experience in building high performing strategic purchasing organizations and developing talent into leadership positions

Base Pay Range (Annual)
$136,100 - $199,540 USD
