
Logistics Industrial Engineer
Position Overview
The Logistics Industrial Engineer is responsible for analyzing and optimizing end-to-end material handling processes to support efficient and cost-effective logistics and manufacturing operations. This role focuses on improving internal logistics flows, warehouse operations, and resource utilization (manpower and equipment), ensuring alignment with lean principles and long-term business goals. The ideal candidate will also lead time studies, vendor coordination, and commissioning/installation activities, while setting and monitoring key metrics to ensure sustainable operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Time Studies & Productivity Improvement: Conduct detailed time and motion studies to establish labor standards, uncover inefficiencies, and drive improvements in cycle time and productivity.
- Manpower & Equipment Planning: Develop robust plans for manpower and material handling equipment (MHE) requirements to ensure effective and efficient operations in warehousing and production support.
- Value Stream Mapping: Lead Value Stream Mapping (VSM) sessions to identify process bottlenecks and develop actionable strategies for end-to-end process enhancement.
- Performance Monitoring: Define and track KPIs for material flow, warehousing, and productivity. Proactively identify deviations and implement corrective actions.
- Vendor Coordination & Project Execution: Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and installation of equipment, tools, and fixtures. Support system commissioning activities.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with manufacturing, logistics, procurement, and quality teams to align requirements and secure approvals at each stage of the project lifecycle.
- Lean Manufacturing: Champion lean initiatives such as 5S, Kaizen, and Kanban to foster a culture of continuous improvement and waste elimination.
- Reporting & Documentation: Create detailed layouts, reports, and presentations that communicate plans, findings, and recommendations clearly and effectively to stakeholders.
Skills:
- Strong expertise in material flow design, warehouse layout planning, and logistics optimization.
- Proficiency in Value Stream Mapping, time studies, and productivity improvement methods.
- Experience in defining, tracking, and improving KPIs for warehousing and logistics operations.
- Hands-on experience in manpower and MHE planning, with strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing tools (Kaizen, Kanban, 5S, VSM) and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for layout design.
- Working knowledge of SAP WMS and material planning modules (preferred).
- Strong vendor management, cross-functional coordination, and project execution skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.Tech.) in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- Industry Experience: 9+ years in the automotive or equivalent Manufacturing industries with a strong understanding of supply chain systems and processes (mandatory).
