Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Systems Engineer to join the IT Infrastructure team. This onsite role at King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) carries responsibility for the design, implementation, optimization, and lifecycle management of enterprise systems, virtualization platforms, storage solutions, and backup infrastructures. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in Wintel, Linux infrastructure, advanced virtualization technologies, enterprise storage solutions and robust data protection systems, complemented by exceptional troubleshooting, and automation abilities. This role is pivotal in ensuring the high availability, peak performance, and security of mission-critical IT services, while leading infrastructure deployments, major system upgrades, and strategic cross-functional initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Extensive expertise in Windows Server administration, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy design/optimization.
  • Advanced VMware vSphere skills, including vCenter, ESXi, HA, DRS, and capacity planning.
  • Strong Citrix ADM and NetScaler (ADC) capabilities for application publishing, load balancing, and troubleshooting complex VDI/application issues.
  • Enterprise storage proficiency with Dell Storage, TrueNAS, and NFS, including performance tuning and disaster recovery.
  • Backup and recovery mastery with Rubrik and Veeam, including retention planning, validation, and rapid recovery.
  • Hands-on Linux experience (RHEL and Oracle Linux) for administration, configuration, and hybrid integration.
  • Automation skills using PowerShell, Bash, and Shell scripting to streamline operations.
  • Solid grasp of networking fundamentals, IP addressing, VLANs, routing, firewalls, and security zones.
  • Experienced in designing infrastructure solutions and integrating systems with network/security teams.
  • Collaborate with business owners to gather requirements and align solutions with objectives.
  • Expertise in patch management, vulnerability remediation, and IT security best practices, with strong knowledge of compliance frameworks and a solid background in infrastructure monitoring, proactive issue detection, and capacity forecasting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Skilled in deploying/managing MS SQL Server multi-node clusters for HA, scalability, and performance.
  • Demonstrated vendor management and escalation handling for hardware, software, and cloud services.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with ability to perform root cause analysis and implement fixes.
  • Skilled in preparing, maintaining, and updating documentation, diagrams, and procedures, with proven ability to lead or contribute to infrastructure projects, upgrades, and technology refreshes.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software Development, Computer Applications, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience as a System Administrator or Systems Engineer in virtualization and storage management.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Linux servers (RHEL, Oracle Linux), VMware virtualization (including NSX), and Citrix, with expertise in administration, configuration, and optimization in mixed-OS environments.
  • Experience with enterprise storage systems.
  • Skilled in backup solutions including Rubrik and Veeam.
  • Exposure to Microsoft 365 administration and security best practices.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, including the use of monitoring tools and performing root cause analysis.
  • Networking knowledge, including IP addressing, subnets, routing, and firewall concepts.
  • Skilled in planning, designing, and implementing enterprise IT infrastructure solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly document and communicate technical information.
  • Solid understanding and practical experience with ITIL processes, including Change Management, Incident Management, and Service Management.
  • Proven track record of collaborating across teams, delivering effective end-user support, and driving successful infrastructure projects, upgrades, and technology refresh initiatives.
