
Finance Product Cost Manager
Position Overview:
To ensure accurate and timely product costing for all BOM components and vehicles manufactured at the plant. The role supports cost planning, variance analysis, budgeting, and inventory valuation while working closely with cross-functional teams to drive cost efficiency and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Costing:
- Prepare and maintain standard cost for components, assemblies, and finished EV products.
- Coordinate with engineering and procurement teams to ensure BOM accuracy & cost roll-ups.
- Analyze cost deviations and provide inputs for corrective actions.
Cost Variance Analysis:
- Track and report material, labor, and overhead variances against standards.
- Assist in root-cause analysis of significant cost variances.
- Support monthly plant performance reporting related to cost KPIs.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist in preparation of annual plant cost budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Collect and analyze inputs from manufacturing and supply chain for cost projections.
- Monitor adherence to budgeted costs and flag potential overruns.
New Product Costing Support
- Work with NPD and R&D teams to provide preliminary and final cost estimates.
- Help prepare business cases and track cost evolution through design phases.
- Validate cost targets based on internal benchmarks and market trends.
Cost Reporting & MIS
- Prepare regular product cost reports and dashboards.
- Present cost trend analysis, savings, and localization benefits.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities related to product cost.
Data Integrity & ERP Costing Module
- Maintain accuracy of costing data in ERP (SAP CO module).
- Assist in setting up standard costs and routings for new products.
- Perform periodic audits of cost master data for completeness and accuracy.
Skills:
- CA / CMA / MBA (Finance) or equivalent qualification.
- 12–15 years of experience in product costing or plant finance roles in manufacturing; automotive/EV experience preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and Excel-based analysis.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of product costing principles and cost drivers.
- Good analytical and data interpretation skills.
- Proactive and detail-oriented with a focus on execution.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple priorities.
