Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute periodic inspection, testing, and maintenance of all fire protection systems, including fire alarm systems, fire sprinklers, hydrants, fire extinguishers, gas suppression systems, smoke detectors, fire pumps, and emergency lighting systems.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and detailed checklists for fire and emergency systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspection reports, service certificates, logs, and test results.
  • Conduct routine fire safety inspections across production floors, warehouses, utility areas, and offices.
  • Identify fire hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure fire exits, evacuation routes, and assembly points are clearly marked, accessible, and unobstructed.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA, OSHA, ECZA, Civil Defense, and other local regulatory requirements.
  • Support the facility in preparing for internal audits, external inspections, and regulatory fire safety reviews.
  • Act as on-scene commander during fire incidents, hazardous material spills, runaway thermal events, or other emergencies until relieved by higher authority.
  • Lead and coordinate fire, thermal runaway, and evacuation drills in cooperation with the EHS team.
  • Ensure high-risk areas such as battery rooms, paint shops, and high-voltage zones are equipped and emergency-ready.
  • Train employees on fire extinguisher use, emergency evacuation, and response procedures.
  • Inspect, test, and maintain firefighting vehicles, SCBA, PPE, hoses, nozzles, and other emergency response equipment.
  • Participate in incident investigations involving fire, safety breaches, or emergency events; contribute to root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action plans.
  • Collaborate with the EHS team to integrate firefighting and emergency response measures into broader safety programs.
  • Provide technical support during risk assessments, hot work permitting, confined space entry, and hazardous materials handling.

Requirements

  • Diploma/Certificate in Fire Science, Fire Protection, or Safety Engineering (bachelor’s preferred).
  • Certified Firefighter I & II (NFPA or equivalent); Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification is a plus.
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in firefighting and emergency response in industrial or manufacturing environments (EV/automotive experience strongly preferred).
  • In-depth knowledge of lithium-ion battery fire behavior, high-voltage electrical fire risks, and industrial fire suppression systems.
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA, OSHA, ECZA, and local Civil Defense codes and regulations.
  • Proven ability to operate firefighting systems, vehicles, and equipment under emergency conditions.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and crisis management skills.
  • Physically fit to perform firefighting and emergency response duties.
