
Plant Floor Systems Engineer
The PFS Engineer is responsible for managing the support operation in the designated shop and respective shift. This will include sustenance support and troubleshooting activities during ongoing manufacturing operation. The PFS Engineer will also provide hands on support to the manufacturing operation for MES systems related breakdowns and issues. They are a level 1 contact person for any support related escalations.
You Will
- Provide Level 1 support for MES systems and hardware during your assigned shift.
- Monitor MES system health, ensure uptime, and execute backups and preventive maintenance.
- Collaborate daily with Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams to gather feedback and drive improvements.
- Coordinate MES hardware installations and support validation builds with manufacturing and vendor teams.
- Manage MES inventory, track material consumption, and prevent last-minute breakdowns.
- Implement and test system changes, including user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Lead Proof of Concept (POC) efforts with vendors to evaluate new technologies.
- Support MES-related project execution and system enhancements across all shifts.
- Drive control system improvements and programming updates.
You Bring
- 2+ years of experience in manufacturing environments, with a focus on IT applications and plant floor operations.
- Knowledge of ICS, MES, and IIoT systems.
- Familiarity with programming languages: SQL, OPC, HTML, Java, Python, C#, Visual Basic.
- Experience with PLC programming, HMI/SCADA design, Kepware configuration, and OT protocols (Modbus, Ethernet, ProfiNet, Serial).
- Hands-on experience with sensors, actuators, torque tools, VFDs, motors, robots, and AGVs.
- Understanding of manufacturing KPIs (OEE, uptime, throughput, FTT, downtime, JPH).
- Experience integrating IT hardware with MES systems (e.g., barcode scanners, printers, RFID devices).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to align technical solutions with business goals.
- Ability to communicate between technical and non-technical teams.
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Electronics, or Instrumentation.
