
Electric Powertrain Maintenance Shift Supervisor
We are currently seeking a Maintenance Shift Supervisor at the Powertrain shop. The successful candidate will have spent considerable time launching new plants and/or new equipment in an automotive manufacturing environment. The Maintenance Supervisor position in the Powertrain Shop will lead day-to-day maintenance operations. In this position, you will lead all maintenance activities on the plant shop floor. This is a unique opportunity to set up and run a world class plant to build a world class vehicle.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
- Supervise maintenance team members during the maintenance activities and interface with production and maintenance Engineers to improve the maintenance process in the Powertrain shop.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.
- Conduct regular inspections of machinery, identifying any issues or potential problems and implementing corrective actions.
- Coordinate with production and engineering teams to schedule maintenance/improvement activities and minimize disruption to production schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment manuals, and inventory.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols, promoting a culture of safety within the maintenance department.
- Collaborate with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance tasks or repairs.
- Continuously evaluate and improve maintenance processes to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and equipment advancements.
- Coach Safety, Quality and Productivity to ensure objectives are met through following standardized work.
- Monitor safety occurrences. Be the first responder as secondary support.
- Support Continuous Improvement and coach problem resolution to the lowest level.
- Ensure continuous and appropriate communication and recognition.
- Create a safe work environment for the team(s) to complete their assigned responsibilities / tasks.
- Responsible for the daily maintenance functions for the facility and for the department.
- Support Lucid Production System and synchronous professional maintenance through lean manufacturing practices.
- Lead and manage hourly personnel.
- Identify data gaps (missed maintenance tasks, etc.) and take corrective actions.
- Make decisions by assessing the situation to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization.
- Ensure that high standards of safe working are adhered, and all documentation is up to date.
- To take care of your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your actions at work.
- Be able to carry out start and end of shift briefings, communicate start of shift objectives, brief company communications and carry out other meetings as necessary.
- To control and monitor attendance in accordance with company policies and processes.
- To actively check equipment and ensure anything that has been reported as a concern has been followed up in accordance with safety regulations.
- To carry out (TPS) audits covering Legal Maintenance Standards and Maintenance Procedures.
- To create One Point Lessons (OPL), and Safety Clips / fast responses, brief staff and display ensuring understanding and compliance.
- To manage the use of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and other IT to process customer requirements.
- To manage resources to cover staff absence & workload capabilities.
- To develop and deliver appraisals and fact files.
- To compile and communicate any reports requested by the company to include end of shift reports.
- Always Monitor tasks/functions and police adherence to Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with company Environmental Health & Safety policy.

Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or with equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience working in maintenance area preferred.
- 5+ years of related automotive industry experience and LEAN manufacturing, preferred.
- 3+ years of direct leadership experience preferred.
- Experience in maintenance, supervisor roles, and repair operations associated with electrical systems, electronics, fabrication, hydraulics, mechanical drives, pneumatics, robotics, Powertrain presses, cranes and conveyor systems, and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming and troubleshooting.
- Must have a thorough understanding of machinery, their functions and maintenance requirements; Programmable knowledge; Electrical experience with controls and drive motor units.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Excellent troubleshooting abilities and mechanical aptitude.
- Familiarity with Powertrain machinery and equipment is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance techniques and software systems.
- Proficient in reading technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with success in working across organizations at all levels.
- Experience Automotive manufacturing tools such as 5S, Kaizen & Lean tools.
- Familiarity with manufacturing systems, tools management, and financial tracking software.
- Flexibility in the work schedule, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

- Proficient in Excel, Project, Power Point, Word, ERP systems (SAP or equivalent).

- Ability to work any shift as well as rotating shifts and weekends.
- LEAN, TPS Certifications a plus.
- Fluent in English.
