
Sr Supplier Quality Engineer, Interior & Safety
The Global Supplier Quality team ensures seamless industrialization, launch, and long-term excellence of innovative products. As a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer for Interior & Safety, you’ll act as the subject matter expert —from early design and supplier development to launch, mass production, and continuous improvement.
This role requires close collaboration across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and supplier networks to deliver complex designs with uncompromising quality. You’ll drive scalable manufacturing solutions, robust control strategies, and proactive quality systems that support flawless execution and sustained performance.
The ideal candidate is proactive, adaptable, and globally mobile—ready to execute across NA, Asia, EU, and KSA. An innate ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment is highly desirable.
You Will:
- Own supplier quality activities for Interior and Safety components, including molded plastics, soft trim, restraints, and airbag systems.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to ensure supplier readiness and alignment with product requirements.
- Support early design reviews and DFM discussions, incorporating lessons learned and driving manufacturability improvements.
- Develop and execute quality plans, including inspection criteria, test methods, and gaging strategies.
- Facilitate APQP deliverables and PPAP submissions, ensuring timely and complete documentation from suppliers.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for supplier quality issues, driving containment and long-term resolution.
- Conduct supplier audits and process assessments, identifying risks and improvement opportunities.
- Monitor supplier performance metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support build events and incoming inspection setup, ensuring quality controls are in place and effective.
- Manage change control activities related to supplier components, ensuring traceability and alignment with engineering updates.
- Travel up to 30% globally to support supplier development and issue resolution.
You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required).
- 5 years of experience in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, or Industrialization within automotive or high-volume production environments.
- Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and inspection methods for molded and assembled components.
- Familiarity with statistical tools such as SPC, MSA, DOE, and capability analysis.
- Experience with APQP, PPAP, and quality systems (e.g., IATF 16949).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with Smartsheets, Minitab, JIRA, or Tableau is a plus.
