
Modeling Engineer, Efficiency and Performance
Job Description:
We are currently seeking a talented and passionate Systems Modeling Engineer to join the Efficiency, Performance, and Systems team. The primary responsibility of this role is to model the physics of electric vehicles.
Responsibilities:
· Develop and maintain system models to solve mechanical, electrical, and thermal problems in electric vehicles.
· Build tools to support the pre-processing of simulation parameters and the post-processing of simulation results.
· Analyze the effect of changing parameters on the behavior of single components and complete systems.
· Collaborate with multiple engineering departments to understand physics, create models, and collect parameters for system level modeling.
· Couple the effects of different systems in an EV, including motor, gearbox, inverter, battery, charger, chassis, cooling, and controls.
· Develop automotive cabin thermal models for HVAC sizing and cabin comfort.
· Collaborate with vehicle testing teams to instrument vehicles to correlate and validate models.
Required Qualifications:
· Fundamental knowledge in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and energy systems.
· Deep understanding of physics and modeling techniques.
· Expertise in modeling and simulation.
· Excellent communication skills in both technical and non-technical environments.
· Passion for problem-solving.
· Curiosity in learning.
· Ability to work cross-functionally with hardware, software, and test teams.
· Ability to work in a high paced environment.
Highly Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience with Matlab and Simulink software.
· Experience and passion for hands-on work.
· Experience and knowledge of electric vehicles including batteries, drive units, motor control, and power electronics.
· Experience in HVAC and comfort modeling.
Education:
· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
Base Pay Range (Annual)
$113,800 - $156,530 USD
