
Sr. Project Engineer, Battery Equipment Integration
Lucid Motors is seeking a Senior Project Engineer, Battery Equipment Integration to join us at Amp-1 in Casa Grande, AZ. This opportunity will involve leading Project Engineering of Battery Manufacturing lines with a focus on tool install scope, fundamental understanding of process equipment, facilities integration, and commissioning. We are seeking individuals with ability to drive proactive equipment and facilities design for seamless install and validation process.
You will:
- Manage multiple Capital Projects of varying size and complexity that include the management of project budget, project schedule, engineering design, construction contractor management, third party inspections and project close-out documentation.
- Work directly with capital equipment suppliers to ensure compatibility with building facility infrastructure. Fundamental understanding of (Equipment Anchoring, Electrical, HVAC, Thermal, Fire, etc.).
- Manage construction/ tool installation project scope throughout the project duration and track major project milestones to ensure timely completion of construction projects in support of manufacturing tooling installations.
- Interact with internal manufacturing and facilities personnel, construction contractors, internal procurement personnel, City building inspectors, contract architects and engineers.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and risks for equipment build, testing, and integration.
- Follow all government guidelines for projects and adhere to all applicable OSHA and environmental guidelines.
- Create and modify Microsoft Project/ Smartsheet schedules.
- Report progress, escalate bottlenecks, and ensure seamless equipment implementation and validation.
- Ensure the project team is prioritizing tasks and completing them to meet project milestones.
- Develop and maintain risk assessments to mitigate timeline and cost impacts.
- Manage on-site installation planning with equipment integrators.
You bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, STEM or related field, or equivalent relevant education and experience.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in manufacturing project/site management, preferably in automation/automotive/EV industries.
- Strong understanding of building infrastructure systems that include building MEP distribution, building structural elements, fire protection/annunciation systems and IT/data systems.
- Fundamental understanding of Machine Tool Building mechanical, electrical, controls to build automation equipment from design to buyoff
- Experience working with the following equipment: robotics, end of arm tooling, pick and place automation, position sensors, material handling, fluid dispensing, deflection analysis, vision systems, conveyor and laser cleaning/ metrology.
- Experience with Battery Module production lines, GD&T, Laser welding, Wire bonding, bar code reading, vision system inspection, potting, HV testing, ASRS equipment, End of line testing, Adhesive applications, box cutting automation.
- Experience with Battery Pack production lines, GD&T, leak test, adhesive dispense, Dielectrics, Hipot testing, Leak tests, End of line testing (HV/LV), AGVs, ASRS equipment, Vision with automated Fiducial offsets.
- Working knowledge of MS project and AutoCAD (must have).
- Working Knowledge of Catia and Delmia (preferred).
- Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time (domestic & international).
- Possess knowledge and experience across multiple functions within product design and manufacturing.
- Possesses strong presentation skills and communicates clearly and professionally at various levels both inside and outside the company.
