Sr Engineer ME GA (Final/EOL)
Being a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will be involved in the complete product and process lifecycle end to end. You will take products from concept through large‑scale manufacturing and partner closely with Design Engineering to develop manufacturing equipment, conveyors, tools, and fixtures required for full production, while applying Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles throughout development.
You Will
- Own manufacturing engineering execution across the full product and process lifecycle, from early concept through prototype, launch, and sustained production.
- Partner closely with Design Engineering to review product designs for manufacturability in General Assembly, ensuring alignment with production, quality, and cost targets.
- Provide detailed Design for Manufacture (DFM) reviews across product, process, and tooling, delivering clear, actionable design change recommendations.
- Translate high‑level assembly goals and manufacturing strategy into executable design, tooling, and process requirements.
- Develop and implement datuming and dimensional control strategies to ensure build quality, repeatability, and robustness.
- Plan and lead Virtual Build events to validate assembly sequence, tooling access, ergonomics, and process requirements prior to launch.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing process documentation, including PFMEAs, quality control plans, and standardized work.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, error‑proofing, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve throughput, quality, and cost.
- Perform General Assembly impact and cost studies related to design changes or unique design directions, including detailed make vs. buy analyses.
- Assess in‑house manufacturing capabilities and lead the justification and implementation of new processes or equipment to expand those capabilities when appropriate.
- Collaborate with Design, Quality, Manufacturing, and cross‑functional engineering teams to support successful program execution and launches.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to manufacturing engineers, strengthening overall team capability and engineering rigor.
- Communicate manufacturing decisions, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly to leadership, including executive audiences, using sound engineering fundamentals.
You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of experience developing and launching complex assembly processes in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong hands‑on experience with DFM, PFMEA, control plans, and assembly process development.
- Proven ability to take products from early design through prototype, launch, and sustained production.
- Experience creating clear written and visual manufacturing documentation.
- Practical application of Lean Manufacturing principles, including error proofing, 5S, and Kaizen.
- Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to break down complex manufacturing challenges into practical solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes and drive initiatives in cross‑functional, fast‑paced environments.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills across technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; working experience with CATIA and 3DX.
- A proactive, accountable mindset with strong ownership and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated creativity or innovation in improving manufacturing processes or technologies (preferred).
