
Sr. Supervisor – Powertrain Drive Unit Production
We are currently seeking a Sr. Supervisor – Powertrain Drive Unit Production. This position requires an experienced professional with the ability to manage staff effectively. The successful candidate will have significant experience in an EV automotive manufacturing environment.
This position, within the Powertrain (Drive Unit) Shop, will lead day-to-day operations at our AMP-2 facility in KAEC, KSA. In this role, you will lead the implementation of Lean Manufacturing practices on the plant shop floor. This is a unique opportunity to help establish and operate a world-class facility producing a world-class vehicle.
Responsibilities:
- Coach safety, quality, and productivity to ensure objectives are met through adherence to standardized work
- Supervise production team members during the production build and interface with Process and Maintenance Engineers to improve manufacturing performance in the Powertrain (Drive Unit) shop
- Manage material claims and support the development of a robust supplier quality system
- Monitor safety incidents and act as the first responder when required
- Conduct process confirmation to ensure the line operates safely, smoothly, and produces high-quality parts
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and coach problem resolution at the appropriate level
- Ensure continuous, clear communication and provide recognition to team members
- Build Team Leader and Team Member capability through coaching and development
- Create a work environment that enables team(s) to successfully complete assigned responsibilities and tasks
- Perform basic administrative duties related to supervisory responsibilities and documentation
- Oversee daily material handling functions for the department and facility
- Ensure proper material flow from receiving dock to warehouse storage and to production line feed locations
- Provide direction and support in allocating resources to meet material handling and production needs
- Support the Lucid Production System and synchronous material flow through lean manufacturing practices
- Lead and manage hourly personnel
- Ensure successful introduction of new parts into production through proactive planning and cross-functional communication
- Identify data gaps (e.g., missed production counts) and implement corrective actions
- Demonstrate flexibility to work any shift, including rotating shifts and weekends
- Make timely decisions by assessing importance, urgency, and risk, ensuring alignment with business priorities
- Ensure high standards of safe working practices are maintained and all documentation remains up to date
- Take responsibility for personal health and safety, as well as the safety of others who may be impacted by actions at work
- Ensure fire exits and alarms remain unobstructed and fully operational
- Conduct start- and end-of-shift briefings, communicate objectives, and facilitate team meetings as needed
- Monitor and manage attendance in accordance with company policies and processes
- Inspect equipment regularly and ensure reported issues are addressed in compliance with safety regulations
- Conduct or delegate TPS audits, including Manual Handling, Driving Standards, and Standard Operating Procedures
- Develop and deliver One Point Lessons (OPL) and safety communications, ensuring understanding and compliance
- Maintain and update ILU/training plans
- Manage Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and other IT systems to support production and customer requirements
- Manage production schedules to meet shift targets
- Handle disciplinary matters in accordance with company policies
- Allocate resources to address staff absences and workload demands
- Develop and deliver appraisals and maintain performance documentation
- Prepare and communicate required reports, including end-of-shift summaries
- Monitor adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times
- Implement updates to SOPs and SWIs when anomalies are identified
- Ensure all activities comply with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or a related field (Powertrain Drive Unit experience preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in automotive Powertrain (HV and Drive Unit) manufacturing preferred
- 5+ years of related experience in automotive manufacturing and Lean manufacturing preferred
- 3+ years of direct leadership experience preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across all organizational levels
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple team members and production demands across safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets
- Experience with automotive manufacturing tools such as 5S, Kaizen, and Lean methodologies
- Experience with Powertrain (HV and Drive Unit), fabrication, or blanking processes
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on risk mitigation and quality control
- Familiarity with manufacturing systems, tool management, and financial tracking software
- Flexibility in work schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed
- Self-starter with the ability to adapt, improvise, and manage multiple tasks independently
- Strong interpersonal resilience and ability to handle urgent requests with limited information
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across teams
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Results-driven with a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution
- Ability to solve unforeseen problems creatively and effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word, and ERP systems (SAP or equivalent)
- Familiarity with engineering software tools
- Lean or TPS certifications are a plus
- Fluent in English
