
Mechanical Engineer II, HV Charging
We’re looking for a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer with structural, thermal, and electrical design experience to join our High Voltage Charging and Distribution team. As a Mechanical Engineer on the HV Charging and Distribution team, you will design state-of-the-art high voltage products used across Lucid’s various vehicle platforms, investigate challenges with high-voltage distribution assemblies such as charge ports, HV connectors, and HV harnesses, and implement innovative solutions. Role:
- Take ownership of in-house HV connector designs, routing and optimization of HV harnesses and related components for next-generation vehicle platforms, ensuring successful implementation from concept to production and beyond
- Exhibit a flair for creative problem-solving and attention to detail
- Demonstrate technical excellence and apply engineering first-principles to new applications
- Integrate mechanical designs with high voltage electrical systems in a multidisciplinary environment
- Optimize designs for size, weight, durability, and cost
- Create 3D CAD models and 2D GD&T controlled drawings of intricate components and complex assemblies
Qualifications:
- Ideally 3-6 years of relevant work experience but open to all levels of experience if paired with strong technical ability
- Rock solid Mechanical Engineering fundamentals
- Proficient in CAD (3DX/CATIA experience highly beneficial)
- Experience with FEA using Ansys or similar software
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, sheet metal stamping, die casting, etc
- Experience with root cause corrective action processes
- Well-developed team-working and interpersonal skills in a cross-functional environment
Preferred:
- Experience with automotive engineering
- Experience with power electronics
- Knowledge of design considerations for high-voltage environments
Education:
- BS and/or MS in Mechanical Engineering
