Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer II, Stator/Rotor as part of resident product engineering organization in the plant. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor, determination, & leads by example. Candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to lead the team through technical & organizational challenges to deliver impactful results in an ambiguous environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Solve complex component/system level problems using standard problem-solving techniques
- Data driven proactive problem solving, root cause analysis & issue avoidance due to process deviations or critical part quality issues
- Establish technical depth to troubleshoot Stator & Rotor sub-assemblies & its interface with manufacturing process & associated equipment related variables
- Responsible for design intent assembly requirements for Stator & Rotor, associated enforcement on the line in close collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Responsible for setting up process flow & implementation of assembly drawings covering product specifications relevant to manufacturing
- Support prototype builds to verify product compatibility against MFG process/equipment
- Support new product launches, execute part concession deviations for E-Motor assembly in the manufacturing plant
- Support high volume production ramp activities pertaining to product engineering activities
- Advice on build process development and possible improvements for high volume production lines
- Lead product change management to address known product compatibility issues for high volume production or known product design issues in production in close collaboration with cross-functional teams where appropriate
- Evaluate Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk, control charts, distribution behavior, and correlation between process parameters and product performance.
- Provide plant feedback to product design teams and recommend design changes that improve manufacturability, quality, serviceability, and production robustness
- Lead technical discussions involving Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supplier Quality, Production, Maintenance, Controls, and Equipment Engineering
- Provide technical mentoring to technicians, production associates, and less-experienced engineers
- Ensure lessons learned are incorporated into current improvement plans and future product designs, process standards, and equipment specifications
Skills
• BS in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering disciplines with 4+ years of automotive experience in design and release of vehicle attributes.
• Master’s degree in mechanical or automotive disciplines with 2+ years of automotive experience in design & release of vehicle attributes
• Experience in product problem solving using industry standard techniques
• Excellent in data analysis using statistics Minitab or JMP, Python, MATLAB
• Prior experience working in resident product engineering roles in the plant
• Technical awareness in stator & rotor subassemblies with associated troubleshooting is required
• Prior Experience in product development or improvement of Stator/Rotor assemblies
• Understanding of critical elements of stator and rotor such as lamination stacks, insulation materials, windings, forming, welding end-of-line electrical testing, press-fit, etc and their impact on part quality
• Experience in using DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, DVP&R, DFM/DFA, & RCA with cross-functional teams
• Exceptional communication and documentation skills are required using Atlassian products.
• Requires proficiency in Catia or 3DX, Stack up analysis (2D & 3D), SQL, JMP etc.,)
• Experience with CAD IN 3DEXPERIENCE.
• Six Sigma Green certification.
• Experience with Atlassian products like Jira and Confluence.
• Engineering-in-Training (EIT) or certification in engineering fundamentals.
• Collegiate FSAE/BAJA/Similar experience is preferred
Minimum Qualifications

Hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours paid time off, and salaried/exempt employee accrue up to 160 hours paid time off.
