We are seeking a Senior Supplier Industrialization Engineer - Interiors to lead the development and industrialization of interior systems at supplier sites. This high-visibility role owns supplier readiness and product quality from the initial design stage through APQP, PPAP, and the start of mass production. You will apply deep technical expertise across interior components, manufacturing processes, quality systems, and product validation while partnering with internal teams and global suppliers. Success in this role means ensuring manufacturability is built into the design, supplier risks are identified and resolved early, and production processes consistently meet Lucid’s quality expectations. The role requires strong technical judgment, program leadership, data-driven problem solving, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex, fast-paced environment. Travel to Lucid and supplier sites globally is required, averaging 25% to 75% depending on program needs.
What You Own
- Lead and continuously improve supplier APQP execution from early design through PPAP submission and mass-production launch, ensuring quality gates and deliverables are completed on time.
- Lead design and DFM/A reviews for interior commodities, translating manufacturing needs into clear design requirements and quality expectations before tooling and production commitments are made.
- Drive and track supplier execution of engineering design changes, ensuring changes are implemented accurately, validated, and reflected in production controls.
- Conduct supplier assessments, audits, sourcing evaluations, and site inspections; establish improvement plans and drive closure of identified capability or compliance gaps.
- Partner with Design Engineering, Purchasing, New Product Introduction, plant Manufacturing, Incoming Quality, Material Planning, and plant Supplier Quality teams to protect Lucid plants and customers throughout development and launch.
- Analyze supplier and assembly-plant build data to evaluate process capability, validate readiness, and make evidence-based recommendations for build approval and risk mitigation.
- Ensure supplier processes and documentation align with ISO 9001, AIAG, and IATF 16949 expectations, including effective use of traceability and core quality tools.
What You Bring
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in high-volume manufacturing or assembly-plant environments within Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, R&D, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- 6+ years of hands-on APQP and PPAP project management experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Hands-on experience with interior components and complex assemblies, including instrument panels, door panels, center consoles, overhead consoles, interior switches, or mechanisms.
- Working knowledge of interior manufacturing and validation processes such as injection molding, chroming, painting, leather, synthetic or textile wrapping, ultrasonic, infrared or heat-stake welding, end-of-line testing, and production traceability.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and schematics, with strong command of IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, DOE, DFM/A, and GD&T.
- Strong analytical, technical writing, problem-solving, and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions and deliver on time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in engineering.
- American Society for Quality certification, Six Sigma Black Belt, or a comparable quality certification.
- Experience driving supplier process improvements for interior commodities in a global manufacturing environment.
