Human Resources Internship

POSITION SUMMARY

This paid internship offers the opportunity to gain valuable insight into the day-to-day operations of the HR functions within Lumbermen’s and to assist in a variety of tasks and projects. Interns will be able to work alongside the HR team and will complete a special project to gain valuable experience in the field and better our organization going forward.  Specific opportunities this position offers include:

  • Learning company philosophies, culture and branding
  • Learning recruiting and onboarding strategies and processes
  • Assisting in the recruiting process through conducting phone screens, onsite interviews and making hiring recommendations
  • Assisting in orientation and trainings
  • Learning payroll processes and shadowing payroll execution
  • Learning the basics of benefits administration
  • Learning the performance review philosophy and administration process
  • Learning about compensation management and use of PayScale for developing positional wage scales
  • Assisting in handling employee relations issues, as applicable
  • Navigating through HR simulations to learn how to apply learning and experience
  • Completing a special project (to be determined based on areas of interest in the above)

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • At least 2 years of college coursework completed in Human Resources
