POSITION SUMMARY:
The FSR is a specialized role focused on driving market sales volume and improving margins by becoming a product and process expert. This position requires engagement with builders, installers, and the Architecture & Design (A&D) community. The FSR is responsible for developing the markets we serve by positively representing Lumbermen’s products and value-added services, fostering relationships with downstream partners, and integrating these connections into the daily operations of Lumbermen’s and our business partners.
To maximize the impact of the Field Sales/Specification Representative (FSR) role, it is essential to establish a strong, visible presence that reinforces Lumbermen’s brand in the marketplace. This visibility ensures that our customers recognize and appreciate the strategic efforts being made on their behalf.
The core responsibility of the FSR is to build and maintain strong relationships with key downstream partners, including builders, architects, designers, and installers, as well as the sales teams of our customers. Day-to-day responsibilities for this position include:
Downstream Partner Relationships (Builders, Installers, A&D, etc.)
- Serve as the liaison between downstream partners and facilitate collaboration between dealers, builders, and Lumbermen’s.
- Conduct product training sessions.
- Provide installation consultation and on-site job visits.
- Supply sales tools, including samples, literature, and display options.
- Manage rebates for both Lumbermen’s and manufacturers.
- Join and actively participate in HBA groups and meetings.
- Monitor project conversions to ensure builder expectations are met.
- Collaborate with Marketing to strengthen the market presence of key downstream partners.
- Engage with social media influencers relevant to your territory.
- Identify architects leading projects in the market and establish opportunities for exposure and training on our products and value-added services.
- Track building permits and share insights with internal and external teams.
- Identify multifamily housing opportunities and connect them with our team.
- Work closely with vendor representatives to enhance knowledge and best practices.
Collaboration with Lumbermen’s Outside Sales Representatives (OSRs)
- Assist Lumbermen’s OSRs in-store with displays and training.
- Coordinate builder and A&D training sessions with OSRs.
- Represent Lumbermen’s at product fairs, networking with builders and customer representatives.
- If required to manage a booth, ensure it promotes Lumbermen’s, such as the LFD table.
- Organize and participate in extracurricular activities like golf outings, hunting, and fishing events, including customers and Lumbermen’s representatives whenever possible.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Two-to-four years industry-specific experience.
