Accounting Internship

POSITION SUMMARY
This paid internship experience offers the opportunity to gain valuable insight into the day-to-day operations of the various functions within the accounting department at Lumbermen’s and to assist in a variety of tasks and projects. Interns will be able to work alongside leaders throughout our organization and will complete a special project to help better our organization going forward. Specific opportunities this position offers include:
- Accounts Receivable
- Learning cash application process and completing transactions
- Posting payments to accounts
- Reviewing and approving pending orders
- Working alongside team to understand and analyze daily processes, data, and reports
- Accounts Payable
- Reviewing, coding, and matching invoices prior to payment
- Assisting in running AP checks
- Assisting in any discrepancy resolution
- Working alongside team to understand and analyze daily processes, data and reports
- Finance
- Assisting with month-end and year-end close
- Running monthly reports
- Assisting with generation of and analyzing of financial statements
- Project (could be ongoing)
- Upon completion of each area of focus above, one area will be selected and, upon approval by Lumbermen’s, the student will complete a special project. At the completion of the project, it will be presented to the department leadership team.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- At least 2 years of college coursework completed in accounting or finance
