Accounting Internship

POSITION SUMMARY

This paid internship experience offers the opportunity to gain valuable insight into the day-to-day operations of the various functions within the accounting department at Lumbermen’s and to assist in a variety of tasks and projects.   Interns will be able to work alongside leaders throughout our organization and will complete a special project to help better our organization going forward.  Specific opportunities this position offers include:

• Accounts Receivable
  1. Learning cash application process and completing transactions
  2. Posting payments to accounts
  3. Reviewing and approving pending orders
  4. Working alongside team to understand and analyze daily processes, data, and reports
• Accounts Payable
  1. Reviewing, coding, and matching invoices prior to payment
  2. Assisting in running AP checks
  3. Assisting in any discrepancy resolution
  4. Working alongside team to understand and analyze daily processes, data and reports
• Finance
  1. Assisting with month-end and year-end close
  2. Running monthly reports
  3. Assisting with generation of and analyzing of financial statements
• Project (could be ongoing)
  1. Upon completion of each area of focus above, one area will be selected and, upon approval by Lumbermen’s, the student will complete a special project.   At the completion of the project, it will be presented to the department leadership team. 

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• At least 2 years of college coursework completed in accounting or finance
