Production Technician III

Team Overview
As part of the Production team, is responsible for optical, mechanical and electronic assembly, testing, maintenance and packing of laser products. Role is directly involved in the operation of machinery and test equipment, and hands-on production of high-performance, laser/electro-optical products. You will proficiently perform a variety of complex tasks under the general guidance and in accordance with the manufacturing procedures.
Responsibilities
- Performs production assembly and testing of complex fiber optic products, primarily lasers
- Tests infrared and visible optical assemblies in accordance with specifications, drawings, procedures and work instructions
- Assists in training new Operators to established standards
- Generates acceptance test reports and related deliverables to internal and external customers
- Maintains quality of manufactured parts by performing all required measurement/inspection activities
- Maintains operational status of equipment by monitoring condition of machines and reporting any needed repairs
- Maintains a safe and organized work area by observing all safety policies and procedures and maintaining area as needed
- Plan and communicate supporting team demand with Supervisor to maintain customer delivery schedules
- Will follow written, controlled work instructions and drawings to perform the tasks required
- Adhere to and follow all ESD and Clean room protocols when handling product
- Assist engineering in the improvement of existing processes
- Works with manufacturing engineering to develop new processes
- Builds NPI pilot runs with participation from engineers
- Provides feedback from pilot runs and participates in MRR to PRR events locking down processes
- Assist in data collection and report generation for unique customer requirements
- Initiate engineering change documentation to correct inaccuracies when discovered
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Troubleshoot and resolve process related issues
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Proficiency in soldering of electronics; certification is preferred
- High level of attention to detail and eye for quality is critical
- English communication skills (oral and written) are required
- Must be able to work independently and follow directions/procedures precisely
- Good communication skills and general computer proficiency required
- Knowledge of SPC, WIP tracking and other production systems preferred
- Familiarity with optical test lab safety practices is preferred
- Familiarity with ISO 9000 / 9001 processes and procedures is preferred
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and 5S Techniques

At Luminar, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays a base between $59,000 - $60,000 per year. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. You will also be eligible to receive other benefits including: equity in the form of restricted stock unit awards, comprehensive medical and dental coverage, 401k plan, life and disability benefits, flexible time off, paid parental leave, and tuition reimbursement for formal education related to advancing your career at Luminar.
