About the role: 

Luminary Hospice is seeking a deeply compassionate and skilled professional to serve as a dual-role Hospice Massage Therapist & End-of-Life Doula. This unique, full-time position combines therapeutic touch with holistic bedside support for patients and their families during the final phase of life. This team member provides both comfort-focused bodywork and non-medical emotional and spiritual presence, enhancing quality of life, reducing pain, and supporting a meaningful, peaceful transition.

Job Responsibilities: 

Massage Therapy:

  1. Deliver individualized, safe, and effective massage therapy tailored to the needs of each hospice patient.
  2. Apply techniques suitable for end-of-life care (Swedish, gentle touch, energy-based approaches).
  3. Support patient comfort, pain management, and relaxation through skilled, therapeutic presence.
  4. Educate families and caregivers on gentle touch techniques and other comfort-enhancing practices.

End-of- Life Doula:

  1. Offer continuous presence and calm companionship during the active end-of-life phase, including at vigil.
  2. Guide bright moments work and memory-making activities such as life review, journaling, or storytelling.
  3. Facilitate rituals or environmental enhancements (soft music, aromatherapy, sacred space).
  4. Empower families to understand and engage in the natural end-of-life process.
  5. Provide non-clinical interventions such as guided meditation, visualization, or gentle handholding.
  6. Assist in honoring cultural, spiritual, or religious end-of-life practices.

Job Qualifications:

1.      Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of Indiana

2.      Certified End-of-Life Doula through a recognized program 

3.      At least 1 year of experience in hospice, palliative care, or geriatrics

4.      Experience providing emotional, spiritual, or psychosocial support to individuals or families at end-of-life.
