Power Electronics Intern
Lunar Energy was founded to transition homes to 100% clean energy—making our electricity greener, our air cleaner and our energy more safe, secure and reliable for all. We’re a fast-growing, global company building the world’s best clean energy products to electrify all homes and connect communities to form clean, resilient virtual power plants.
On a given day at Lunar, you'll likely…
- Design power electronic systems from 10W–10kW, including DC/DC converters, offline isolated power supplies, and inverters—covering topology selection, semiconductor and magnetics design, schematic capture, PCB layout, and EMC
- Own your systems start to finish, from specification and prototype through validation and manufacturing hand-off
- Develop and execute verification and validation test plans at both the component and system level
- Bring up and test hardware in the lab to validate functionality, optimize performance, and characterize critical parameters in high-voltage, high-noise environments
- Collaborate across mechanical, thermal, reliability, and firmware engineering to optimize the full product
- Contribute to product-level features, design direction, and vision—bringing both technical depth and creative thinking to the work
Desired Skills:
- BS in Electrical Engineering with hands-on power electronics experience; MS or PhD with a power electronics focus preferred
- Detailed understanding of active and passive component losses in power conversion and strategies to minimize them
- Experience designing high-efficiency, high-density power converters using wide bandgap devices
- Familiarity with a range of topologies (two-level, multilevel, soft switching, etc.) and the ability to analyze, select, and design for a given application
- Knowledge of magnetics design—core material selection, winding optimization, and insulation strategies for both power and filtering applications
- Strong EMC fundamentals applied to both PCB layout and filter design
- Solid lab skills with hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, impedance analyzers, sources, and loads in high-voltage, high-noise environments
