The Role: Lead Fabricator
Availability: Full-time with an ability to work mornings, afternoons, and occasional overtime, holidays and weekends.
Reporting to the Room Manager, the Lead Fabricator is responsible for maintaining all incoming and outgoing inventory for the department. This includes the request of materials, equipment, and sundries required for day to day operations. In the process, Lead Fabricator ensure that their rooms have all products they require on hand and do so while keeping costs as low as possible and within room specific budgets.

What you do (Responsibilities):
Leadership:
- Supervise, mentor, and support a team of Fabrication Technicians, ensuring optimal team performance
- Delegate tasks, set daily work schedules, and monitor production progress to ensure timelines are met
- Address performance gaps with clear guidance and actionable next steps
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team environment
- Recognize and celebrate team and individual achievements to maintain morale
- Conduct team meetings to communicate daily goals, updates, and production challenges
- Provide and document timely opportunistic and positive feedback to team members to support their growth and development
Production:
- Coordinate and prioritize daily and weekly production activities to meet deadlines and production targets
- Monitor the fabrication process to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and quality compliance
- Identify bottlenecks, resolve workflow issues, and adjust schedules as needed
- Collaborate with the Moulds Department Manager to align production goals with overall departmental objectives
Inventory:
- Track, manage, and maintain inventory levels of raw materials, tools, and consumables
- Ensure the availability and quality of necessary materials and equipment to avoid production delays
- Escalate raw material, tools and consumable concerns to the appropriate channels
- Conduct regular inventory audits and reorder supplies as needed
- Manage storage and organization of moulds, boards, equipment, and materials
- Execute year-end count; work alongside auditors to answer questions and facilitate audit
- Coach and train staff staff in relation to inventory best practices within the department
Quality:
- Ensure all fabrication activities align with established quality control standards and specifications
- Conduct quality checks on moulds and fabricated components throughout the production process
- Document and address defects, ensuring corrective action is taken to prevent recurrence
Outsourcing:
- Identify and collaborate with third-party vendors to outsource specific fabrication tasks that cannot be completed in-house
- Oversee the quality and timeliness of outsourced production items and services
Safety:
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of all fabrication equipment, including 3D printers, vacuum formers, and power tools
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for equipment servicing and repairs when applicable
- Promote and enforce adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Conduct safety inspections, ensure PPE compliance, and report any safety concerns
Administrative:
- Maintain records of production metrics, inventory usage, and vendor transactions
- Able to work collaboratively with other departments and other areas of the business
- Generate reports on team performance, production output, and operational improvements
- Participate in hiring, training, and onboarding of new team members
- Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching and development opportunities for team members
- Support the implementation of GMP policies as needed and prepare and monitor all required documentation
Who you are (Qualifications):
Required:
- Experience in progressive leadership and people management
- Experience leading a team of direct reports to achieve targets/goals/objectives
- Demonstrated ability to navigate conflict; able to objectively navigate through difficult conversations
- Demonstrated ability to give in-the-moment feedback and have performance conversations as needed
- Familiar with 3D printing, vacuum forming, or other mould fabrication technologies
- Basic technical skills related to equipment setup, operation, and troubleshooting
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to detect errors or defects
- Basic computer literacy for equipment controls and production reporting
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift materials up to 50 lbs on a consistent basis throughout 8-hour shifts
- Comfortable working in a fast -paced, high-production environment
- Able to work with moderate noise levels and manufacturing equipment
- Experience successfully completing Lock Out / Tag out practices
Preferred:
- Experience in a leadership role in a high volume environment
- Experience working in a manufacturing, fabrication, or production environment
- Technical aptitude/familiarity with machine processes
- Relevant work experience such as in a trade or machine operator
- Technical qualification/certification
- Computer proficiency, and familiarity with PLC controls
