As the PMO Director, you will be at the forefront of strategic and tactical leadership, working directly with large owner/client agencies to ensure the seamless delivery of projects that impact not only the organization’s revenue but also enhance end-user satisfaction. You will lead efforts to design workflows, optimize processes, and exceed client expectations, all while maintaining a strong focus on delivering projects on time, within budget, and at the highest level of quality.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and Lead a PMO: Establish, manage, and lead the PMO to ensure that all programs and projects align with company objectives and are executed effectively.
  • Develop Standards and Processes: Implement consistent project management methodologies, governance, and quality control processes that enhance project outcomes.
  • Provide Expert Training: Lead the creation of management training programs to ensure the continued development of PMO capabilities.
  • Be the Client’s Trusted Partner: Act as a key liaison for senior client leadership, maintaining open communication channels to address concerns, discuss progress, and ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Monitor and Report Progress: Oversee the tracking of project performance, budget management, and timeline adherence. Provide actionable insights and strategies to keep everything on track.
  • Champion Process Improvement: Continuously assess project management processes and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure Seamless Communication: Implement a robust communication strategy to keep all stakeholders informed of project updates, risks, and milestones.
  • Manage Financials: Collaborate with Pricing and Proposals teams on project cost estimation and work with leadership to ensure financial targets are met.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience.  
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.  
  • 15+ years’ experience in Portfolio/Program/Project management. 
  • 10+ years in a leadership role in a technical or engineering environment. 
  • Proven successful record of setting up and leading PMOs with the ability to right-size practices for the organization's maturity level and the ability to provide strategic consulting services to clients.  
  • Full understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, etc.) and best practices.  
  • Strategic business focus and understanding; customer-focused perspective.  
  • Long-term focus and ability to make strategic recommendations and decisions surrounding difficult, complex, and critical issues. 
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills; ability to build an open environment where conflicts as to project priorities and funding decisions can be aired and resolved objectively.  
  • High level understanding of technical and integration concepts as related to the industry and products/services of the company. 
  • Ability to build and deliver executive-level summary reports and presentations.  
  • Demonstrated experience as a leader of leaders with the ability to develop technical talent (both managers and individual contributors). 
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team that excels at delivering technical solutions to external clients with a direct tie between project deliverables and revenue. 
  • Demonstrated experience building organizational relationships, partnering with and influencing executive leadership while commanding the respect of the individuals you work with across the organization. 
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and the ability to learn new software programs such as Power BI. 
  • Strong proficiency with industry standard project management software. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) or Business Administration (MBA). 
  • Previous experience in transportation or aviation sectors. 

Compensation Details 

The salary range listed for this role is $270-312K annually. The final salary offered is based on multiple factors and is thoughtfully aligned with each candidate’s level of experience, breadth of skills, total education achieved, certifications/licenses that have been obtained, etc.
