Assistant Office Engineer
About the Position
We are seeking an Assistant Office Engineer to support engineering teams working on heavy civil infrastructure and transit projects. They will be responsible for coordinating and maintaining project documentation, reviewing for compliance with design specifications, and supporting the project office as necessary while maintaining accurate project records and reports.
This is a long term, full-time, onsite position located in the greater Washington DC metro area.
Responsibilities
- Route and track contractor submittals and RFIs for review response.
- Assist in the preparation of responses to contractor submittals and RFI's.
- Facilitate and track change orders.
- Assist in the preparation of change orders.
- Process, print and file all incoming and outgoing project documents and correspondence.
- Process and distribute change proposals, design changes and change orders.
- Maintain project files, material documentation and records.
- Assist in the preparation of reports on project progress and trends.
- Track correspondence for issue resolution.
- Prepare for conferences/meetings.
- Attend progress and safety meetings as required.
- Take meeting notes; prepare and distribute minutes as requested.
- Support the maintenance of EEO/DBE, etc. training documentation and participation.
- Maintain project office, supplies, etc., and provide administrative support as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- 2+ years of relevant Office Engineer experience working on civil infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with estimate preparation, review processing, compliance requirements for construction projects, construction materials, methods and procedures.
- Familiarity with contract documents and construction plans and specifications.
- Basic proficiency with industry standard document control software (e.g., SharePoint, E-Builder, Aconex, Procore, etc.)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration.
- 2+ years of relevant Office Engineer experience working on heavy civil infrastructure or transit projects.
Compensation Details
The salary range listed for this role is $19-$24/hr ($39k-$50k/yr). The final salary offered is based on multiple factors and is thoughtfully aligned with each candidate’s level of experience, breadth of skills, total education achieved, certifications/licenses that have been obtained, etc.
