Assistant Project Manager
About the Position
We are seeking an experienced and successful Assistant Project Manager who will apply construction engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform duties and responsibilities. This is a long term (2+ years), full-time, on-site position located in Newark, NJ.
Responsibilities
- Management, review, and oversight of the design to ensure compliance with contract documents. STRONG FOCUS PLACED ON DESIGN EXPERIENCE.
- Provide support and oversight of construction and associated work.
- Work directly with the Program Integration Team to ensure the design and construction is in accordance with the interface requirements provided by the System Technology.
- Develop an understanding of the contractual (technical/commercial) requirements of the Design-Build contract; review various submittals in accordance with the contract requirements.
- Working with the Lead Project Manager, prime project managers, authorities, and other Project Subject Matter Expert (SME) staff to review, coordinate, and oversee the design work.
- Distribute and review various designs and consolidate review comments from the Project Team and others to ensure consistency and compliance with the Design-Build contract.
- Support the Construction Management Division (CMD) in supporting the construction phase of the project, ensuring interfaces and contract requirements are understood and implemented.
- Support the Project Team in testing and commissioning the project.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering, construction management, project management, or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience.
- 5+ years' work experience as a Project Manager focused on the design and construction of rail or roadway bridge structures. STRONG FOCUS PLACED ON DESIGN EXPERIENCE.
- Proficiency with industry standard construction management software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering.
- Experience in Design-Build contracts in design, construction, or implementation.
- Experience overseeing Design-Build contracts for the Owner.
- Automated People Mover experience.
- NJDOT/AASHTO bridge structures experience.
- PMP certification (through PMI).
- PE license (NJ preferred).
Compensation Details
The salary range listed for this role is $104k-$175k annually ($50-84/hr.) The final salary offered is based on multiple factors and is thoughtfully aligned with each candidate’s level of experience, breadth of skills, total education achieved, certifications/licenses that have been obtained, etc.
