Sr. Quality and Risk Manager (Heavy Civil Construction)

About the Position

Do you have several large, complex aviation projects under your belt and are passionate about driving quality, managing risk, and establishing strong governance frameworks? We’re seeking a Senior Quality and Risk Manager to help shape the future of our client’s Program Management Office (PMO) by developing and implementing a comprehensive Program Quality Management, Risk Management, and Governance framework. In this role, you’ll leverage your deep understanding of aviation operations to establish and enforce industry-leading quality standards, mitigate operational risks, and ensure seamless program execution. This is a long-term, full-time, onsite position located in Denver, CO.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with aviation industry standards and regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to established quality benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with aviation programs, ensuring minimal impact on operations and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain risk management frameworks, tools, and processes tailored to aviation projects.
  • Provide regular risk assessments and reports to stakeholders, highlighting potential challenges and recommended mitigation strategies.
  • Establish and maintain governance structures to ensure accountability, transparency, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Monitor compliance with internal policies, industry regulations, and contractual obligations.
  • Facilitate communication between stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, to ensure seamless program execution.
  • Provide expertise in program planning, execution, and monitoring to ensure successful delivery of aviation projects.
  • Support the integration of quality, risk, and governance practices into program management processes.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior leadership, summarizing program performance and compliance metrics.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • 10+ years’ experience in risk management in architecture, engineering, or construction industries.
  • Experience working on program management teams for large, complex infrastructure design-build programs, while implementing a QMS, quality standards/processes
  • Experience with Monte Carlo modeling software (e.g., Primavera Risk or similar). 
  • Experience managing large programs (e.g., $500M+) utilizing quality and risk-based thinking, in the highways/roads/bridges, transit, rail, or aviation sectors.
  • Proven experience coordinating a project management team and providing appropriate levels of support, coaching and influence.
  • Experience with and/or training in ISO 9001.
  • Experience with industry standard project and construction management software (e.g., Primavera P6, TILOS, MS Project, Bluebeam, RSMeans, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Work, Excel, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Experience working with aviation industry standards and regulations.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Project Management Professional (PMP), Professional Engineer (PE), or Architect Registration (AIA).

Compensation Details

The salary range listed for this role is $124k-$200k/yr ($60-$96/hr). The final salary offered is based on multiple factors and is thoughtfully aligned with each candidate’s level of experience, breadth of skills, total education achieved, certifications/licenses that have been obtained, etc.
