Field Engineer
About the Positions
We’re seeking Field Engineers at various levels to support large, heavy-civil infrastructure programs—including highways, roads, bridges, transit (including rail and bus), and airport projects delivered through both traditional and alternative methods As part of the project delivery team, you’ll support field operations, coordinate technical activities, and help maintain compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements..

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Monitor daily construction activities for compliance with plans, specifications, and safety protocols.
- Prepare and maintain field reports, logs, and documentation of progress, quantities, and field conditions.
- Assist with development of work plans and look-ahead schedules.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Support quality control efforts including material sampling and test result documentation.
- Track and verify installed quantities for progress billing and cost reporting.
- Support safety initiatives and participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- Support and coordinate resolution of field issues and discrepancies in collaboration with construction, design, and quality teams.
- Prepare and track responses to RFIs to ensure timely, technically accurate communication and alignment with approved design and technical baselines.
- Participate in project closeout activities including punch list and as-built documentation.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years' progressively responsible work experience in field engineering or construction management on heavy civil infrastructure projects, preferably in the highways, roads, bridges, transit (passenger rail or bus), or aviation sectors.
- Strong knowledge of construction plans, specifications, and safety standards.
- Familiarity with project scheduling, quality control, and document management processes.
- Experience with industry standard project and construction management software (e.g., Primavera P6, TILOS, MS Project, Bluebeam, RSMeans, etc.).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365 (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in civil engineering or construction management.
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Engineer in Training (EIT), Project Management Professional (PMP), Professional Engineer (PE), or Architect Registration (AIA).
- Experience with large (>$500M), complex, heavy-civil infrastructure projects that include highways, roads, bridges, transit (including rail and bus), and/or airport projects.
- Experience with alternative delivery methods (e.g., DB, PDB, P3, CMGC, CMAR, etc.).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI, Oracle Cloud Analytics, or other dashboard KPI reporting software.
Compensation Details
Expected Salary: $104k-$145k/year ($50-$70/hour). Luster provides the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might offer for this position based on the successful candidate’s level of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, certifications, licenses, geographic location, etc. Luster reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range depending on circumstances not related to any status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
