About the Position
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive AP Accountant to join our growing organization. As a member of the Finance and Accounting team, you will report to the Controller and support processing vendor payments, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on process improvement initiatives, collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations, and contribute to the implementation of advanced accounting systems. Role & Responsibilities:
- Oversee and optimize the accounts payable process, ensuring accurate and efficient invoice processing, payment execution and adherence to financial regulations and company policies.
- Manage the corporate credit card and employee expense report processes by ensuring adherence to the company’s T&E policy and providing support and direction in resolving issues.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all accounts payable transactions.
- Troubleshoots and acts as the main point of contact for internal department and external vendor reimbursement, payable, and payment related questions.
- Owns the month-end and year-end close processes for accounts payable and related accounts by ensuring the accuracy of vendor expense accruals, performing account reconciliations such as AP aging, related journal entries, and reporting.
- Responsible for the maintenance and review of vendor information, including banking, ACH, Form W-9’s, and prepare year end 1099 forms filing.
- Assist in external audits by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.
- Monitor internal controls within the P2P cycle and assist in developing and reporting key performance indicators for Accounts Payable and identifying areas of continuous development.
- Assist with other accounting duties and special projects as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum Associates degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum five years of related experience with working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Has a solid accounting foundation and possesses technical, analytical an problem-solving skills.
- Experience in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
- Experience with Coupa and Netsuite preferred.
Nice-to-haves (but not required):
- Public accounting experience is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits: Lygos offers highly competitive salaries, stock options, bonus and benefits, including medical and dental insurance, unlimited paid time off, and 401(k).
Salary Range: $90,000 - 115,000. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location, skill, experience, and performance.

Location information: This position is based at our Hayward, CA location, and relocation assistance is not available at this time. A hybrid work arrangement is acceptable, with the expectation that the candidate will be onsite 2-3 days per week.
