About the Position

We are seeking a dedicated Agronomist to support our sales team by serving as a subject matter expert in modern cropping systems and emerging products, like our biodegradable, chelating polymer, Soltellus. This role involves examining, researching, and solving problems related to the application of Soltellus in a variety of crops, while also developing tailored agronomic approaches for new and existing markets/crops.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Develop field trial research projects exploring the optimum application timing and placement of Soltellus in corn, soybeans, cotton, and other crops.
  • Serve as the SME for the sales team related to all aspects of Soltellus use by various customers.
  • Assist with the sourcing, testing, and selection of research small plot studies.
  • Maintain detailed records regarding fields, customers, crops, and samples.
  • Generate reports and present findings to management, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct training on Soltellus usage and techniques through customer-focused presentations.
  • Coordinate and support sales team field days and other customer meetings.
  • Coordinate and summarize existing and new research projects.
  • Identify and explore new market opportunities for product implementation.

Qualifications & Experience: 

  • Masters’ degree in agronomy, agriculture, or a related field; further education and experience may be preferred. Additional certifications may be required.
  • Proficiency with computers, particularly MS Office and diagnostic scientific software.
  • Exceptional active listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong research, decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Awareness of industry trends, technology, and developments.
  • Sales and presentation skills are advantageous.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 50%.
  • Ability to work outdoors and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, kneeling, and stooping for extended periods.

Nice-to-haves (but not required):

  • Irrigation experience.
  • Specialty crop experience.
  • New Product launch experience.
  • Working knowledge of polyaspartate and Soltellus.

 

Compensation and Benefits: Lygos offers highly competitive salaries, stock options, bonus and benefits, including medical and dental insurance, unlimited paid time off, and 401(k).

Salary Range: $111,000 - $165,000 -  Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location, skill, experience, and performance.

Location information:

This role is remote; with travel (30-50%). Candidates will work standard hours from their time zone.
