Senior Operations Accountant – Lyra Technology Group  

Lyra Technology Group is seeking a Senior Operations Accountant for our OpCo, Mode5, based in Norfolk, Virginia. The Senior Operations Accountant plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the company’s operational and administrative functions. This position oversees accounting processes, purchasing, payroll, and reporting, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and alignment with organizational goals. The Senior Operations Accountant works closely with executive leadership and department managers to drive financial accuracy, cost control, and informed decision-making. 

Your work as a Senior Operations Accountant will include the following duties:   

  • Manage full-cycle bookkeeping, including general ledger, accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), and reconciliations.
  • Maintain financial accuracy within QuickBooks Online, ensuring timely and precise entries.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, sales tax filings, and other compliance reports.
  • Coordinate annual budget preparation with department leaders; monitor variances and report on over-budget items.
  • Support year-end financial close and collaborate with external CPA for tax preparation.
  • Generate and analyze key financial metrics to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Oversee procurement and inventory management for customer equipment and service contract materials.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions.
  • Track and reconcile inventory levels, purchase orders, and receipts.
  • Process and submit payroll accurately through third-party payroll services.
  • Maintain employee payroll records and documentation in compliance with regulations.
  • Support HR with hiring, onboarding, and performance review processes for administrative staff.
  • Lead and mentor administrative staff to promote professional growth and departmental efficiency.
  • Conduct quarterly departmental planning sessions and monthly performance meetings.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement operational enhancements.
  • Ensure confidentiality regarding company financials, employee information, and sensitive business matters.
  • Manage administrative tools and platforms, including Halo Software. 

Our ideal Senior Operations Accountant has the following qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 4+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, including general ledger, A/R, A/P, and payroll administration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks Online (or similar accounting software).
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, tax reporting, and payroll laws.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The targeted base compensation for this role is $75,000-85,000 per year and will be an on-site role in Norfolk, Virginia.
