Sr. Technical Project Manager - Cloud Migration and Infrastructure (Hybrid Schedule)

Description Summary: The Sr. Technical Project Manager - Cloud Migration and Infrastructure (Technical Project Manager) will lead and coordinate key IT infrastructure initiatives: such as focusing on migrating on-premises infrastructure to an Azure cloud environment, lift-and-shift projects of legacy applications, ephemeral environment creation, and ensuring robust collaboration across internal and external teams. This role will also closely collaborate with IT Ops and Security teams as well as Platform Engineering/DevOps, Development, and Quality Assurance resources to drive performance and optimization improvement strategies during initiatives while helping the organization focus on platform and application stabilization and customer retention. The ideal candidate will provide structure, accountability, and proactive management of project timelines and deliverables to ensure that projects are delivered on time and on budget to the best of their ability.

Essential Duties:

The duties listed below are the essential functions of this position, and they may change as the needs of the company demand. All employees are expected to do what is necessary to get the work done and to cooperate fully with their supervisor’s requests for added or altered duties.

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale technical IT projects, particularly those involving migration from on-premises infrastructure/applications to cloud solutions as well as other transformative technical IT projects.
  • Driving "lift and shift" projects where technical stacks are lifted from one platform and shifted to a new platform to ensure minimal downtime, maximum efficiency, and successful transition with clear documentation and follow-up.
  • Collaborate with IT Ops & Security, Platform Engineering/DevOps, Development, and/or Quality Assurance teams to decide technical requirements and build/develop project plans that accurately describe and outline scope of work to be performed.
  • Work closely with IT Ops & Security, Platform Engineering/DevOps, Development, and Quality Assurance teams to find and implement performance and optimization improvements to drive business initiatives. 
  • Collaborate closely with internal IT teams, external technical vendors, and their respective project management resources, ensuring clear communication, alignment of goals, and prompt issue resolution.
  • Regularly communicate project statuses, risks, and mitigation plans to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Lead project teams effectively, providing clear directions to ensure projects stay on track and within scope.
  • Implement and enhance project management frameworks and standards to show consistent practices across all project activities.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation and reporting of project progress, challenges, and solutions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Training/Experience: 

  • 5-10 years of experience in a Technical Project Management position with experience managing large-scale IT projects, particularly involving cloud migrations, infrastructure transformations, and lift-and-shift operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and drive projects to successful completion is required.
  • Strong experience collaborating with external vendors, managing vendor relationships, and coordinating effectively with vendor project managers and technical teams is required.
  • Experience with writing technical requirements and building detailed, complete project plans is required.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical and project details to both technical and non-technical audiences are required.
  • Demonstrated capability in structured project management methodologies (PMP, Agile, Scrum, Kanban) is required.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, specifically Azure or AWS, including core infrastructure and services, is recommended.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills are required.
  • Ability to provide clear directions to teams while supporting a collaborative and supportive environment is required.
  • Certification in one of the following is required: PMP Certification (preferred), Scrum Master Certification, Agile Certification, ITIL Certification.
  • Proactive and strong organizational skills are required.
  • The ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple concurrent initiatives is required.
  • A skilled communicator capable of navigating complex organizational dynamics is required.
  • Comfortable exercising decisive authority to meet organizational goals is required.
  • Resilient under pressure and committed to achieving project excellence is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in the office regularly, or pivot to working at home should emergency situations arise.
  • Ability to travel and represent the company’s interests required.
  • Ability to attend work by assigned schedule and attend meetings with excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to bend and lift to 25 lbs.
