Job Overview: As a Senior SRE at Macrometa, you will play a crucial role in maintaining, securing, and scaling our infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of our users while maintaining peak system performance. The role involves managing a collection of microservices running in Docker containers orchestrated via Kubernetes. You will gain hands-on experience and exposure to a wide array of technologies, contributing significantly to our infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and scale our Kubernetes-based digital edge fabric and PhotonIQ clusters across multiple cloud platforms including AWS, GCE and Linode.
- Be part of our elite production deployment team, which operates around the clock in a seamless follow-the-sun model, ensuring smooth and graceful upgrades across our global production systems.
- Collaborate closely with Development and QA teams to maintain and optimize the infrastructure, providing support and ensuring robust performance and reliability.
- Support and monitor our Linux environments, managing installations and troubleshooting software and hardware issues.
- Develop and enhance Kubernetes operators and infrastructure tools to improve visibility and management across all clusters, optimizing the oversight and control of our distributed environments.
- Be a key member of our global incident management team, engaging in on-call rotations that follow the sun model to ensure continuous, seamless system performance.
Who You Are:
- At least 5+ years of relevant experience in DevOps, SRE, or similar roles, with a solid track record in cloud-based, geo-distributed environments.
- Strong understanding of Linux systems, including various distributions such as Ubuntu.
- Proven expertise in Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm for orchestrating container systems.
- Advanced scripting skills in Python, Go, or Shell, with a penchant for automating routine tasks.
- Excellent problem-solving skills coupled with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Effective communication skills, self-driven and motivated with a customer-centric mindset.
Required Experience:
- Hands-on experience managing Kubernetes and Docker ecosystems.
- Experience in designing, automating, securing, and supporting high-velocity data stacks in containerized/Kubernetes environments.
- Demonstrable experience managing critical production systems at scale.
