Senior Originator
About the Role
Madison Energy Infrastructure (“MEI”) believes in the power of clean energy infrastructure and is on a mission to modernize energy for industry and communities, where it matters most. The Senior Originator role is a senior commercial position responsible for independently generating, managing, and converting a high-value pipeline of commercial, industrial, and municipal customers into long-term MEI partners. This role owns a growth target and will drive MEI+ (MEI’s signature customer program) by leading customer relationships end-to-end, from initial outreach through signed term sheets and definitive agreements. This is a high-autonomy, high-accountability role for a seasoned commercial leader with experience navigating complex multi-stakeholder sales cycles, structuring renewable energy solutions, and delivering differentiated customer experiences. This position will report to the Director of Origination.
What You’ll Own
- Origination & New Business – Originate new business by finding and pursuing new products, customers, and/or regions
- Customer Engagement & Solution Structuring – Communicate directly with potential customers to understand customer needs and develop transactions/product structures to meet those needs, including proposing solutions and negotiating deal structures
- Customer Presentations & Value Messaging – Develop presentation materials highlighting transaction benefits and present alternative transaction/product structures to customers
- Transaction Economics & Pricing – Structure transaction economic and valuation models; work with the different desks to develop pricing; manage and provide direction to analysts on how to build models to price and analyze structured transactions and review them for completeness and accuracy
- Risk Mitigation – Analyze and develop deal structures including risk mitigation solutions to ensure risks are appropriately managed and quantified, and ensure risks are appropriately reflected in pricing
- Documentation, Negotiation & Internal Approvals – Oversee, guide, coordinate, review and assist in drafting and negotiating transaction documents/contracts with the customer and counterparty; coordinate with relevant SME groups and prepare/present internal materials to navigate the vetting process and obtain management approvals on a timely basis
What Will Help You Succeed

- Bachelor's in Finance, Business, Economics or a similar field; MBA or graduate degree in Business, Economics or a technical field preferred
- 1-3 years of transaction development experience preferably in the energy industry
- Experience navigating complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles and driving deals end-to-end (from initial outreach through signed term sheets and definitive agreements)
- Strong commercial judgment and comfort negotiating deal structures and transaction documents directly with customers/counterparties
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to develop high-quality customer-facing materials and coordinate effectively across internal cross-functional teams
- Analytical rigor and attention to detail across transaction economics, valuation models, and pricing inputs (including managing/reviewing analyst work)
- Project management skills and experience with renewable markets a strong plus
- 4 days a week in office; 25-50% travel directly visiting customers and prospects is expected
