POSITION OVERVIEW 

We are looking for a skilled and passionate Brand Manager with proven experience in consumer goods to join our marketing team.  As a Brand Manager, you are responsible for defining strategies and building annual consumer and channel brand marketing plans by understanding the consumer’s needs, customer and competitive landscape, retailer strategies, business model metrics and market dynamics.  This role will work closely with our key customer teams to ensure success and growth at one of our leading retailers. 

This role is for someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment with the ability to both work independently as well as collaboratively with key cross-functional stakeholders and the brand founder, Kristin Ess. 

The role is based in NYC and you will be expected in office 3 days a week, at minimum per Company policy. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Senior Brand Manager, Fragrance 

We are looking for a skilled and passionate Senior Brand Manager with proven experience in brand marketing for fragrance, consumer goods, or beauty/ personal care to join our marketing team.  This is a high-impact role focused on leading new and expanding fragrance brands. You’ll be at the forefront of shaping and scaling these brands through strategy, storytelling, and full 360° execution across all consumer touchpoints. As Senior Brand Manager, you will lead go-to-market on new product launches, driving retail and trade marketing initiatives in close partnership with internal teams and external partners. You will be responsible for ensuring brand consistency across digital, in-store, and experiential channels, plus understanding the consumer, customer needs and competitive landscape. You will spearhead the development and execution of marketing programs from ideation to launch, including building brand awareness in the market, overseeing the creation of all brand assets and educational content, as a close liaison with the retail partners and agency partners. 
 
This role requires a balance of strategic thinking, operational excellence, and creative leadership. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and strong executor—someone who is both data-savvy and creatively inspired, with the ability to bring ideas to life with precision and impact. You thrive in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments, are comfortable navigating ambiguity, and excel at leading cross-functional teams to deliver results.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Strategy: Set vision and define success for brand and brand projects.  Lead development of brand strategy and execute annual brand marketing plans.  This includes business objectives, consumer and channel strategies, and translation of strategies to the consumer through the marketing mix.
  • Business Results and Opportunity Assessment: Analyze market and business to identify opportunities for growth, refine strategies and ensure objectives are met. Exercise critical thinking to set high performance standards, measure success, and adjust plans to deliver against growth agenda. Lead post-launch analyses and business reviews with support from teams and cross-functional partners.
  •  Business Plan, Briefing & Project Management Execution: Define the business plan to deliver category and brand objectives.  Manage all brand projects including, but not limited to: in-store merchandising, campaigns, promotions, and innovation launches to deliver on-time with executional excellence.  Lead development of briefs that give focused direction to project teams/agencies to deliver projects that drive the brand and deliver business results. Plan and flawlessly execute launch 360 marketing programs - including, but not limited to: assortment, launch toolkits, retailer pitches, competitive deep dives, and support of digital/e-commerce and website.
  • Creative, Content and Connections: Build brand equity with an ecosystem of creative content and seamless connections through commerce. Write clear briefs and have a sharp eye for creativity and presentations. Oversee brand experience to seamlessly integrate across the consumer journey.  Define data-based audiences, and partner cross-functionally to deliver marketing communications objectives.  
  • Lead through P/L and manage budgeting: Own and manage marketing budget, ensuring strong organizational skills, with an ROI mindset on marketing investments and strong year-end budget delivery.  Knowledge of P/L and cost management is an asset.
  • Skills & Capability Development: Coach and develop Associate.  Develop business objectives, performance, personal development, and training plans.  Provide coaching, feedback, and guidance.
  • Cross Functional Management: Partner with internal teams and external agencies to ensure all product/seasonal activations are planned/executed on schedule and budget.
  • Champion the Brand: Drive alignment strategy with senior management and key commercial stakeholders at all levels.  Responsible for consulting with cross-functional partners and driving alignment across the organization.  Participate in key sales and marketing presentations.

Qualifications and Requirements 
 
6+ years of brand marketing experience in CPG, beauty, or fragrance; Fortune 500 experience preferred, startups and midsize also welcome. 
Proven track record of launching new products, implementing go-to-market strategies and building brands 
Strong understanding of omnichannel marketing, including merchandising and in-store retail, e-commerce, and digital. Trade marketing working with retailers (i.e. Target, Walmart, Ulta, Sephora, etc) 
Deep interest in and knowledge of fragrance and beauty trends. Trend savvy. 
Highly organized, very detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects under tight deadlines. 
Data-driven. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate it into action. Knowledge of IRI/Nielsen is a plus. 
Impeccable communication and storytelling skills—both written and verbal. Must be comfortable creating presentations and presenting in key stakeholder/ retail meetings. 
Creative thinker with a sharp eye for creative, aesthetics, and copywriting. Ability to translate to omni-channel storytelling. 
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate with all levels, partner well with cross-functional team, agencies and retail partners 
Thrive in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment. Open to change and ambiguity  
Problem solver with a proactive approach to projects. A self-starter who consistently thinks ahead, shows initiative and drive, finds solutions and follows through. 
Team player with a strong work ethic. Flexibility and willingness to take on additional responsibilities when needed.

Proficient in Microsoft Office 

What We Offer  

$115,000/yr - $130,000/yr. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This position is eligible for participation in a discretionary bonus plan based on individual and company performance.
