The opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) with a strong technical background and proven track record of leading complex, cross-functional programs. This role will focus on driving execution of Magic Leap Perception Projects, including computer vision, XR (extended reality), and algorithm-driven innovations that power next-generation user experiences.
You’ll work closely with engineering, QA, research and external partners across the globe to manage roadmaps, define milestones, identify risks, and ensure on-time delivery of high-impact features. Your ability to support teams globally, across the EU/US time zones is required. Location: This position requires being fully on-site at our Zurich, Switzerland facility, to ensure seamless collaboration and hands-on support for daily operations. Relocation assistance is available for non-local candidates.
What you’ll do
- Lead cross-functional initiatives from concept to launch within the Perception and XR domains.
- Translate complex technical and research objectives into clear, executable project plans.
- Drive execution and foster accountability across diverse software teams.
- Partner closely with engineering leads, research scientists, product managers, and UX teams to define scope, prioritize tasks, and eliminate roadblocks.
- Monitor progress, proactively mitigate risks, and deliver clear, consistent updates to stakeholders.
- Align teams on goals, timelines, and deliverables to ensure cohesive execution.
- Identify and implement process improvements to scale technical program management best practices across the organization.
The experience you bring
- 5+ years of experience in program and technical project management, supporting software engineering teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Deep understanding of the full software development lifecycle, including key milestones and checkpoints.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies, frameworks, and terminology.
- Demonstrated ability to independently implement best practices while aligning with broader program goals.
- Strong skills in risk identification, mitigation, and effective stakeholder communication.
- Comfortable collaborating with both research-driven and product-focused teams.
- Skilled in managing complex internal and external team dependencies.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities.
It’s exciting if you also have
- Familiarity with XR technologies (AR/VR/MR) and their development lifecycles.
- Experience managing programs involving computer vision, perception systems, or algorithm development.
- Background in machine learning, deep learning, or real-time sensor fusion.
- Experience in R&D or early-stage innovation environments.
- Proficiency with agile methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- PMP or equivalent project management certification.
